She doesn't think anyone here is stupid. It just really, really bugs her to have to read misspelled words. She's still my friend and I love her anyway.

Update:
Well, because of the big freeze (for us) this winter, I had glorious roses covering most of my cane reed covering, but now, it's turning into true Texas--
we have heat and insects who are hungry, bagworms, caterpillers, grasshoppers, and they've all come to my yard to try to strip the leaves off my natural barrier.

I think the neighbor has finally gotten the point, when we enter the yard and her dogs rush to the fence and go off nonstop, she gets them back into the house. I like things predictable, but I guess you never can count on that. I had George out in the middle of the night, probably 1 to 2 am, when the screaming and attacking the fence started next door. I hadn't put him on lead and hoped I hadn't just undone the months of work I've put into not allowing him to rage back. I told him to go back to the house, headed that way myself, and, with one sort of quiet, under his breath, low, growl, he turned around and trotted back inside. He is what he is, but I got the feeling he was telling him they weren't worthy.

The little bitch actually decided to take a short sun bath while I did some gardening, she's on a lead, still, though. I'm hoping some of this wears off on the neighbor dogs, the relaxation part, but I kinda doubt it.

Both bitches are doing stays and heeling when the yappers are out.

That's great progress, though. On the positive side, what an opportunity for proofing your training results.

Our neighbor has found a way to get her snarling, fence-charging Cocker Spaniel to stop and ignore my dogs altogether, even when he's out alone. Of course, it helps that our dogs are always on the lead and that we work hard to keep them from reacting or return to the house. Up until then, I just made my dogs 'hold it' until the Cocker went back inside.

It's probably not a good idea, but I'd be tempted to hose the little yappers down.

That's great if he has gotten his dog under control. Are you all on civil terms where you could make a comment and find out what he has done. Soaking the dog's sounds like a perfectly reasonable solution if only you could do it consistently. Motion sensor to sprinkler system, just kidding. Chris Mercer

Packmom, I'd love to trade neighbors! By the way, one of the yappers is also a Cocker, an old, angry one, and the two dogs sometimes redirect and fight each other.

my dogs fence fight each other. as long as they cant reach each other i dont care. one is on a runner and the other is in the fence and they run back and forth growing and barking at each other all day. You remember how i said that some of my dogs work themselves and stay in shape and i dont have to do anythign with them lmfao well there you go lol. It might sound wrong but I can't stop them. Its there form of entertainment

Glad your situtation is getting better

Nice! An automatic solution. All we need now is a vibration sensor and an electric water control valve.

I've been trying to catch my neighbor to ask about it, but we keep missing each other.

You'd like my immediate neighbors, but we've got one with problems, too. He drives everyone else crazy because he can only complain to the city about those that join his property.

I hadn't thought about using the fence fighting for exercise, mine would love it. Before there was a problem I allowed non fence fighting ones to associate with the others. Great games around the yard. Neighbors dog shows up running loose and they go nuts as this interloper runs up and down the fence wanting to play while my normally non aggressive dogs work themselves into a frenzy. If it wouldn't self reward I'd see if they could be coyote kill dogs. Just kidding PETA. I now let them out in small groups to better control this problem. My only problem with the fence running is two fold, it's obnoxious and it I've seen it initiate dog fights. Chris Mercer

The latest development on my ongoing saga is that the neighbor dogs got corrected for fence fighting. It was a dark and stormy night, we were out in the yard and they ran to the fence, growling and barking. A sharp yip was heard and they retreated. Apparently the hotwire had pulsed through some wet plants, which they touched. They are actually on easement property when they do this as it is my fence. One can only hope they'll remember.
