Okay so I only talked to a handful of ppl last night about what happened with Nevaeh. I will tell the story from the beginning and y'all can see what you think.

Okay so last night I was talking to Dan on yahoo IM then told him hang on that I had to put the dogs in the crates for the night, this was at 11:15 pm. All dogs came when called and went in the crates except for Nevaeh. She was standing up, looking different and sick and hunched over staring off. I called her name and she didn't even do a prick with her ears or wag her tail. She just didn't look right, I actually got the chills from her because she looked so ghostly, so I went back into the house and told Dan what was going on, he asked if I touched her and I said "no, should I" and he said yes and put her in the crate, sooo....

I went back outside for the 2nd time and called, "Nay Nay, sweety" she didn't even notice me so I thought maybe she was focusing in on something, I went to where she was staring and I didn't see anything so I went back up on the lit porch and bent down on my tippy toes and started sweet calling her. She turned to me and I swear that was not my dog, but she comes up, no wag no nothing, so I think maybe she is hurt or feeling sick or something. I grab her collar and she is looking straight at me but just looks lifeless and scary, but I am not showing that I am nervous, I am telling her good girl, that a girl, etc. I go to feel around her ears and cup her left cheek in my right hand and she lunged at me with so much force at my face and BARELY missed my nose, I felt her on the tip of it but the thing that saved me was that I was already down on my toes so when she lunged at me it knocked me off balance AND I had ahold of my collar so my only reaction to do was pull her to the side of me and I let go of her when I fell and she ran back to her same spot and sat with her back towards me.

I starting crying because Nay Nay is my baby but I also have a 23 month old daughter and I was hurt and confused on the inside. I run and call Dan because I needed someone to talk to and we started trying to figure out what could have happened and he tells me I need to get her in the crate, even if I have to get ahold of her collar really tight and then with the other hand grab the scruff of her back to put her in if she wouldn't let me handle her. We talked about the vet but my sister in law who lives with us had an emergency in Texas with a family member so we just gave her $700 for a roundtrip and money to rent a car and for food and stuff, we now don't have anything so the vet is out of the question for right now, then Dan told me I have to talk to Holly since she is where I got Nevaeh from. But first I should crate her.

Sooooooo I went back outside and her back is still towards me, I don't want to walk up to her since it was dark out there so I called her back to me on the porch, after a few minutes which seemed forever she finally comes up again, still looks lifeless, like she sees right thru me. I grab her collar again but I don't get down, I stoop over her, I still do my check over her body convinced something might be wrong. I stroke my hand down her tail and she jerks against the collar with her teeth showing and a low vibration coming from her throat, so I just guide her in her crate, at this point I can't stop crying. I text Holly to get her onto yahoo IM and I start talking with her and she says yes it is hard but I have a daughter to look out for and if I can't find out if something is wrong from the vet then it could be something mentally and I would have to put her down. I have never prepared myself for something like that and Holly told me that the parents of Nevaeh were too line bred for even her liking and that the litter was an accident and was half brother/sister. The dogs were over at her ex's house when this all happened but it was up to her to find the pups a good home with a spay/neuter contract. So that is how I got Nay Nay free and got her spayed.

Well all through the night I would check her every hour and she would growl at me through the crate like she didn't even no who I was. I was home all by myself except for my daughter who was already in bed. Finally I fell asleep, and I never was able to get ahold of my hubby, well he got off work at 7 am and went to go let the dogs out of the crate and came inside and I told him about Nevaeh and he was like, I just let her out of the crate and she was fine too me, but he looked a little nervous and scared but we just let her run around and she has been normal since. ???

Soooo I am wanting to know if any of you have ever experienced this and if so what did you do?

Here are stuff you might have questions about----

--She was spayed at 5 months old and got her rabies then

--She is UTD on her rabies as she just turned a year in april and she isn't due till Sept.

--I have had her on the same dog food, BUT the last 4 batches after 2 days went moldy and I returned them went to 3 different places to get them even out of town, then the 4th i just got a cheap brand of retriever from Tractor supply and it did the same thing. I am wondering if this is a factor in what happened as I am on a new bag and it has been 3 days since I bought it and I am wondering if I just didn't catch some mold in her dogfood, but all other 5 dogs are fine.

--She has been fine all day today since my husband has let her out, but we still don't trust my daughter around her.

--We are quaranteening her in a 13x7 ft kennel to see how she does and reacts for 1-2 weeks with a lock on the door so my daughter can't get in there.

--BUT just before I made this post I went outside because I heard growling and scratching everywhere, Nevaeh's crate is open but she is inside with tail straight up going crazy, then I see a mouse that runs in AND she snatches it up and kills it then is tossing it around, immediately she is starting to foam at the mouth really bad from it. I go and get a stick and hold her back by the collar so I can move it out. We don't have rat poison anywhere at our house but I am starting to wonder if the mouse had something from another house or was diseased.

I am truly sorry for this being such a long post but I am scared because I couldn't imagine putting my baby girl down, but I wanted to hear everyone's opinions first. My daughter is banned from Nevaeh for now but I am still going to walk her on a leash out on our property to keep her excersized so she doesn't feel pinned up and things, but please give me advice maybe. If y'all have any questions from stuff I might have left out I will gladly answer them so I can figure this out. Thanks so much.

Sorry this happened to you.
This (staring off, lifeless, looked right through me) sounds like it may be some sort of seizure activity; I would take her to the vet asap. Be careful of her with the other dog, too.
Take care,

George

Wow, I don't know about the first episode, but if she caught and killed a mouse, that would explain the foaming, it's something about the kill that gets them all worked up, my grandmother's huskies used to kill rodents, and they did the same thing, foam, and run around. Is it possible she sees the rodents and it is her prey drive taking over? If it's dark you prolly wouldn't see them, but she might see or hear them.

Lady killed a mouse the other day, but we weren't home so I don't know how she was leading up to it, but she didn't hurt the pug, so she still had her wits about her. They chased another mouse last night, and she acted like it was a game, but once again, I don't know how she would act if it bit her or startled her.

I am glad you choose to bring this to the forum for some support. You know where I stand on this situation... But I hope for the best...

One other thing to think about Laura... Whatever is wrong with her came on all of a sudden. She may be acting ok now, but what if it comes on again and the outcome is worse next time?

You know what I say about it. You need to take her in. As far as the mouse rat poisoning would have done killed her and if not she would be really sick from it and would not have just come out of it if she would have gotten a hold of that. The thing about rat poisoning though is if she were to get a hold of it there is only so much time you have before it is to late to save them. Her behavior was not right and she needs to be checked out. Most things like that dont come on suddenly there are usually signs a head of time that HA is starting to take place. Please Please have her checked out if it is some kind of poisoning its probably not over yet. Unless she was just stoned off of something lol.

I fear it returns and this time not as "innocent" You know she having issues,PLEASE LAURA, you took me thought Pirelli and im wanting you to understand how it could play out.Sweety your smart to know how this needs to be done..Either vet care or down..thats only way to go.PLEASE dont wait till next time.I know the "isssues" stop this and im not sure what advice i can be but remember the speech you gave me about doing the best thing and what could happen.Think with your head not your heart.XOXO

By how you described her physically, she does seem sick, i highly doubt its random or sudden. Perhaps you just missed the early signs. We can sit here and guess all day, but i think only the vet can confirm or deny anything for sure. I would take her to the vet as soon as you can.

Oh wow girl... She isn't on any new meds or anything? Have you taken away the different dog food? I can't see how the dog food would come into play, but you never know. I'm no expert by any means, but maybe she has a thyroid problem? IDK... I'd go to the vet asap to rule out any medical reasons and make your decision from there. I've pondered that "deep sleep" about my neela, but I haven't grown the testicles to do it because she's good with my family and that's about it... which i came to terms that as long as she's a good dog to me she'll stick around.

And if you want i can donate to you for vet costs I Know how shitty times are and when shit happens its allways at the worst time.

You could also check for parasites, sometimes worms, fleas etc cause all sorts of strange behavior. You could worm her and see if anything comes out, and you can try a flea dip. I feel like with such a sudden change it is not hopeless, if you find the cause she could end up being just fine. Keep us posted.

I WOULD NOT flea dip or do this if I was you..she MAY already have a Toxin issue and you dont want to add more to it.I WOULDN'T give her ANYTHING unless a vet. see's her and gives ok. but I would push fluid to push toxins out if in truth that what it is.But seriously this is a hard call

The only thing that comes to mind is lime disease. Has she had any ticks?

Lime disease can cause on again/off again pain and depression and since she lunged at you when you touched her it is possibly pain related.

She MUST see a vet immediately, quarantine is really not enough. I am sorry but the truth is that it is either major medical or possibly a neurological problem and either way a vet can only diagnose.

Please don't take any chances.

(((HUGS))) I know how hard this can be.

George Bailey I Believe you are correct I had a puppy who I had to have put down:( because of cronic seizures she would have this same look of nothing in her face whenever they came upon her I hated to put her down but I hated more to see her suffer...but you should take her to the vet and get checked out.

Okay y'all I am back now. I took Nevaeh and Faith out to ride horses since I didn't have the money for a vet, BUT I am gonna call vet tomorrow and let them tell me over the phone what would need to be done and how much so I can then prepare myself to take her in, but you just got to understand I can't just take her in and expect them to be understanding because they won't be, I have tried it before and both my husband and I got denied for the credit thing for payments. :(

But as her behavior today, we all went over to a bbq and rode horses, Neveah rode some on the saddle and then trailed behind with the 6 blue heelers, both my labs and Faith and she had a blast on some trails and swam a little bit in a pond. That is what confuses me even more, is that she is now acting fine BUT I am not stupid and no that there is the possibility something might strike up again, soooo she has not been exposed to my daughter what so ever and will not be till a vet visit is done AND a couple of months if everything is okay just so I can build my trust up again which is hard to even say but I can't risk my daughter at all. I would never live it down, but I just can't put her down without knowing if someone has slipped her something over the fence (it has been done before), or a bad mouse she ate, or a chicken, because she ate 2 of mine that entered the yard yesterday, I found the remnants in her puke today and also in Faiths. :( Damn chicken eating dogs.

Well I will keep y'all updated and I will post what the vet says AND I want to think EVERYONE for your support and your advice and I will consider it all and let the vet know too that way it isn't bypassed. Y'all are my 2nd family and I don't know what I would do without you guys. Thank you so much for being there.

Thanks for the update Laura. Yes your right, don't trust her at all, she has proven to snap when she did it to you. I am curious as to see what the vet might say, i hope they do everything they can to get to the bottom of it, and not immediately tell you to put her down.

Yah I hope so also. I was wondering if I should call and say I have a lab cross that way I might get different answers, lol. Then when I bring her in just explain to them why I did that. I don't want her to be judged off the bat for being a pitbull and it is a cruel world and it does happen. The weird thing is when I was pregnant with Kaydence, our female chocolate lab who was my buddy got in the house one day and attacked me from over the couch and grabbed my elbow and tackled me down. I was shocked but someone told me she was jealous because she sensed that I was having a baby and that scared me that she was gonna be jealous when I did have the baby. Yah she is gone now. :(

I SAID BULLDOG MIX not lab..LMAO None the less chicky, you KNOW how I feel about you,I AM NOT yelling at you or anything.I think you need to keep her from the other dogs, ALL dogs and animals till you learn what it is.I mean it could be something simple or much worse that passable then you could risk alot more then just her.I hope you don't think im getting rude to you just trying to help.Did you really think those chickens were safe that real raw diet and fast food mixed into one..

I just thought of something, maybe there's a sound she hears that you don't. I have heard of people saying their dogs can hear things like electric. Someone once said that their dog would not walk on the kitchen tile, and for a long time they thought the dog had fallen and was scared of the flooring, but when they redid the kitchen, they found an electric short under the tiles, and they think it zapped the dog, or the dog could hear it.

Thrall will not go in my mom's side yard, where the dogs are supposed to do their business, he will only go in the big yard. Their dog died mysteriously in the side yard a couple years ago, since she was 14 they figured it was a heart attack, but their oter dog, who loved to run around outside hates it out there now, and does his business and then cries to come in right away. I have wondered if there's something the dogs can smell or hear out there that makes them afraid.

Okay so a friend of mine down the road that owns horses took me to her horse vet that also does dogs. They looked Nay Nay over and took a few blood test since I mentioned that she ate a couple of chickens and some mice and didn't find anything out of the normal. BUT she said that she could have been really sick just from eating them and she also asked me if I had any kind of certain weeds in the ground that Nay Nay could have possibly got ahold of and I told her I wasn't sure and she told me certain things can even make a dog hallucinate.

She advised me to keep Nevaeh away from Kaydence and keep her in the kennel and just watch over her and see if I see any other signs but she also told me to interact with her normally because that would be the best time that I would see something that was out of the ordinary. She told me not to make mistake her depression of suddenly being put into a kennel instead of an open yard to be her acting strangely. She said I should suspect some depression which is why I should keep her activity level up but not around my daughter just in case anything were to happen.

She also said that if I even got the idea that something was wrong and had a bad feeling like the other night then to bring her in and they would do a cat scan or something?? Since Nevaeh was her waggy self she didn't seem to worried about her.

***Haha, hey lil and belinda, that is funny that you mention that ghost thing. Okay soooo about 2 weeks after we move into the house a neighbor tells us that the lady that used to live here before us would kill random dogs and cats that just came into her yard and then would bury them around her house. It sounded insane though. Well just about a month ago Nay Nay has been digging up these gravesites which I had no idea where they were. The bones still had collars and leashes on them. She has found 5 so far. I had to bag of the bones and I put them in our dump trailer with the rest of the trash. Well ever since then, I have been finding big puddles of pee with a strong stinch and cloudy yellow color to it AND sticky, but definitely smelled of old pee, in my daughters room. Mind you, my daughters room stays closed ALL DAY long, no dogs or cats in there at all. One day I found 6 puddles in there at one time, but everyday I still find one here and one there.

Well just the other day my daughter was asleep on the couch, my chihuahua was locked in my room and my 3 cats were locked in the laundry room, I was on my computer which is between our dining and living room. I turned to go to the bathroom and stepped in a puddle of pee. I was like wtf, so I cleaned it up and checked where the dog and cats were and was like okay that is weird cuz it was only 3 feet behind where I was sitting at computer. I came back to get on computer and then got up 10 min later to get something to eat, I look behind me and there again was another puddle of pee about 6 inches from where the first one was, I was sorta freaked out so I clean that one up and then eat and get back on net. 5 min later I smell a weird smell and look behing me and for the 3rd time another puddle. All of these have been within 2 ft of one another and about a foot long and 4 in wide, just like in my daughters room. This all happened earlier in the day before Nevaeh acted weird, lol. When my hubby got home I was already so upset about Nay Nay and what we might have to do that I tried to lighten the mood and said, Nevaeh went and dug up some dogs and now they can't rest so they are pissing in my house and taking over my dog now. But I was seriously only kidding just to make myself feel better.

I swear y'all, some freaky stuff has been going on lately, oh and mind you also, none of my bigger dogs come in the house at all AND I have hardwood floors so I would here tick tick tick from toenails if something was behind me. :( Damn, new houses are scary. So now when I crate the dogs at night, I lock all doors and bring Jewel my pit/lab cross in the house to sleep next to the bed. Always between 1am and 3am she growls under her breath and she starts pacing, so I don't know what the hell is going on or if we have something living up in the attic!!

Anyways, soooo I will keep y'all updated on Nevaeh and I want to thank you sooooo much Liil Locz for offering help, that means the world to me and you don't even know because Nevaeh is my baby. I love her so much.

My dogs adopted a stray cat that lived undetected under the couch for who knows how long. Maybe you have taken on a stray. It would use the dog door, and eat the dogs food and water, I never knew til I saw the grey streak run past when I was in the shower. This was in response to the mystery puddles :-)

same here,i believe in that stuff too.i know for a FACT it happens to us,i lost my brother in 05 to cancer he was only 18.the night he died he was talking to something in the corner (that we couldnt see)he died later on that night .a week later,my cousin that was 4 at the time was with me as i was going through pictures of the family, saw a picture of my grampa who had passed before my cousin had been born..he saw his picture and said"that was the angel that russell was talking to".i said huh?what are you talking about?he said he was in the corner telling russell it was ok to come with him.
imo,she may very well be seeing the spirits of these animals.if something or someone dies unexpectedly(killed)their souls are sometimes trapped here.and dogs and children are more sensitive to this
i dont want to sound like a nut job lol..but i started a paranormal group because of this kind of stuff...
i hope everything turns out for the better for you,ill keep you in my prayers.
