View Full Version : Why your dog
The question has been asked why we have pit bulls but has anyone ever asked why we have our current dogs? Did they come from a breeder, a rescue or did they find you?
My oldest Cash came from the animal shelter. I saw his picture online and took the next day off to go look at him, he was a under weight and had mange but despite that he was in good spirits even tolerated the little rat dog in the cage barking and jumping on him. After the interview I was approved and he came home the following monday.
Lucy came from a guy that was going back to prison (classy hu?) The mother died during birth and he was geting rid off the pups. So when Lucy was 6 weeks she came home. ( i know thats early but something tells me this guy wasnt concerned)
Dallas came from people that had no idea what they were doing when they bought their first pit bull puppy.
Czar is the first dog that i owned by myself. And since i did not have much experience with dogs in general, i decided to get a puppy since i wanted it to be a learning experience and did not want to miss the puppy stage.

Bango came from the falins themselves. Diamond was bred by Dennispits and the Falins. Remi came from Pulldawgs. Houdini, Chester, and Tai was a screwed up thing but came to live with me non the less. Houdini and Chester were bred by a person I dont like so much. Tai was bred by Camelot himself. Thats about it lol

I looked at puppies/dogs for at least a month. I found that I was attracted to the pitbull style dogs. I started researching the breed and joined gopitbull.com. I found Tanner on Petfinder. He was born at one of the foster homes along with 7 other babies. I just had to have him.

Our first show dog was Magic and we got him through a friend who's friend was a breeder and had pups. We did so well with him that the next year he had another litter and asked if we wanted one. We said sure and 3 mo. later Rain was part of our family. Our friend had a litter of pups 2 years after that. This was his first litter in 8 years and we were excited to get one. Desperado has an awesome ped. Not too long after that Fury was born and it was love at first sight. She was all mine.

Well, when we bought our house, I wanted another dog, a larger breed this time. We looked at a few different breeds, I love akitas and shar peis. I left the final decision up to hubby since I chose our two other dogs, and he chose pitbull. So we spoke with what we thought was a reputable breeder, we were emailed pup pics, we asked 5 billion questions etc. When the day came to go get her, we arrived at the address, and it was a run down row house. We knocked and some skinny crackhead lifted the spongebob comforter away from the window, and told us to "go the f--- away!" I called the breeder and he spewed some bs about how that was a house he rents out, and he was coming to meet us because he lives in a new development that mapquest doesn't always recognize. The idea was that we would follow him to his house to see the pups. Well, about 20 mins later some woman shows up with Lady. She is huge, we were told 9 weeks, but according to her papers she was 13 weeks. She was covered in filth, and reeked. It was obvious from her stench she had a UTI, and she was dribbling. I laid into the chick about how dare she try to sell me a sick pup, and wtf was this drive here, go there crap, only to be handed a dog on the side of the road in the ghetto. She said something about the risk of parvo or some bs. So I negotiated a much lower price, and I took Lady, since I couldn't imagine sending her back to somewhere that gave her such bad care, and I was afraid they would cull her because of her age and she was sick. It's hard to say no to a BYB when the pup is there shivering and trembling from fever and illness, and fear. I expected to go play with the litter, and choose a pup, not have the rattiest one tossed at me, but I wouldn't trade her for anything. She loves us way more than any dog I have ever seen. It's like she knows what we did for her.
I rescued Coaco. The best thing that I ever found :)
And we bought Zeus from a breeder.

Harlem we rescued from a city near us, Lily I found on petfinder and after 3 months of checks and organizing we got her home. Halle was from a byb, my sister's drug dealing bf had a pup from the litter and I thought he was the cutest thing, my sister thought that because I thought he was cute, I wanted one too. She went and bought her for $300.00 and gave her to me. Then asked me to pay her $200.00 for her  (I wont get started on my sister.) But we already had the puppy, knew she wasnt in good hands where she came from, and had to keep her. Tyson was 'for free' in a small city 45 minutes away, and was a 7 month old intact male. I didnt want him going to anyone who would breed him, or get him as a 'guard dog' so I took him on as a project dog. My brother and his fiance are interested in taking him after their wedding August 1st so we'll see.
