How do you guys keep your dogs teeth clean and healthy? I was thinking of getting Czar a tooth brush and paste, and i want to hear how you guys do it.

rope floss chews are good... Since czar is going to lose all his teeth relatively soon there's little use in brushing them hot hygeine. Brushing them to get him used to the idea is good. No tooth paste needed. I started brushing at about 8 months when grizz got his full set of teeth. I brush 2x a month and the boys use there foods chews daily.

Is there specific doggy tooth brushes, or can you just use any small tooth brush?

We give our dogs raw bones to keep their teeth clean and teach them to accept a good cleaning with a dental scaler when they need it.

Is raw bones enough to keep their teeth's clean? And why do you use a dental scaler?..why not just a tooth brush? I mean i would be nervous to use a scaler on my dog lol

They have doggy tooth brush and tooth paste at petco. Bones keep the dogs teeth very clean.

For tarter build up, Leon. It's quite easy to do, we do it at the same time we grind nails, if they need it. I take my scaler to the shows and will clean the dogs teeth while they are on the grooming table being prepped to show; they don't mind if you name and explain the tool and the process beforehand, and ask if they are ready.

yes it is possable. but there are brushes for dogs that are shaped kinda like a U they cover more of the tooth at once. they make it easier and less time consuming for me. but yeah a reg tooth brush is fine if thats what you wanna use.

I brush my dogs teeth, I use the turkey flavored toothpaste from Petsmart they really like that one. Don't use people toothpaste since dogs have a tendancy to eat the toothpaste while you are brushing, get doggy approved stuff and they make special brushes as well.

Again though, don't really worry about it until his ADULT teeth come in.

i brush peanut's teeth every day. he has a dog toothbrush and dog toothepaste. we use petrodex natural peanut flavor. everyday when it is time to brush teeth i tell peanut "brush your teeth" he comes running to the bathroom and puts his fron paws up on the sink and waits for his teeth to get brushed. i just put my hand on his head for a little brushing pressure.

i will try and get a picture of it.

The doggy brush I got fits on my index finger. Awesome. I just use my one finger to brush with. I only do it like twice a month cause my kids get raw hides too.

I use the tri brush... Like Dan stated before, brushing before the adult teeth is just a good tool to use in order to accustom your dog to the procedure. I have been brushing Chino's teeth for a few weeks now, and all of his puppy teeth are almost gone. The tri brush is effective because it can clean three surfaces at a time. We use Organic vanilla flavored toothpaste and our boy loves it!

Well in my case it depends on the dog. Most of mine get a doggy tooth brush on their teeth with doggy tooth paste, I also keep bones around for them to chew on and I use dental rinse in their water quite often. Then of coarse you always got those difficult ones that will not let you brush their teeth or they eat the tooth brush while you are trying to do it. On those I use alot of bones, dental wash, and occasionally trips to the vet to have them done so that there are many hands to do it or if need be they can knock them out to do them real good. I figure Diamond will be one of those dogs. I tried to get her use to it while she was a pup but after the problems with her puppy teeth she wont let me near her mouth and when she does she tries to eat the tooth brush. Her teeth look aweful now I will probably be taking her to the vet soon to have them do it
