Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome.

LiiL_L0cz, my family has been breeding the Colby and Loposay line of American Pit Bull Terrier's since the mid 1940's and 1970's with the goal of keeping the breed as functional and true to it's origins as possible. You'll notice the lack of show ring or weight pull titles in most of my dogs as I very rarely participate in those type of venues anymore although I have formerly founded an ADBA sanctioned club and several other non registry exclusive club's. Simply put, after refusing to play politics and watching sub-standard animals being put up as champions who are at best poor examples of the breed simply because of who its owners are I have no interest in competing with my dogs nor do I put much value in those titles. I concentrate my efforts into breeding for temperament, soundness, athletic ability, a high drive with stamina and true to correct, original conformation quality. Recently I decided to bring in some new blood to add to my Colby dogs. I wanted a working Colby bulldog, not just one that looked good on paper. This is what I got and I am 100% satisfied.http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=139324 Like his father, he is one of the best examples of the modern day Colby dogs. The Loposay blood was introduced to my family in the 1970s and since my maternal grandfathers death Ms. Loposay has become not only my mentor but family as well. Of all my Loposay dogs this is my favorite who several oldtimer claim is the exact reincarnation of Cottons Bullet.http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=260324 Having a closed yard, being a Canine Lobbyist solely dedicated to the American Pit Bull Terrier breed in South Carolina for over 12 years, founding a ADBA/ADBSI sanctioned club and several other non-registry specific clubs in S.C. isnt what Im best know or will be remembered for though. Most people will probably remember me, like or dislike as the owner of the first blue dog (TURNERS BLUE RAZOR BLADE) in history to ever win First Place and Best Puppy under Judge Joe Daly, First Place and Best of Show under Judge Mike Ellis, and place 3rd under Judge Amy Greenwood Buford at the 2004 ADBA Nationals in New Lennox, Illinois in at that time was the largest class ever entered and shown by participants in a nationals show and doing so all within 90 days from start to finish. Blade set the standard and laid the path for blue dogs in the ADBA. Judges who refused to place Blade simply because of his color found themselves being chastised and even reminded by oldtimer that blue is after all just a color. Blade was also the very first "blue" dog to be inspected by Judge Art Parker "at the request" of the owner of the NKC, Mr. D. Morgan who registered him as an American Pit Bull Terrier NOT an AmStaff like their standard on blue dogs calls for. Their standard and color DQ is still listed on their web site as I type this. Blade gave his life in 2006 to save my daughters. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him. Maybe one day after I'm gone my children will tell his story, until then I have his memories in my hart. He was a very special dog, in more way than one. For those few times I do get to a conformation show these days and see a well deserving blue dog place, I smile and remember my friend. RIP Blade.

Maybe u could do a bloodline history on colby for us?

I doubt I could add anything else to the Colby's family history that hasn't already been written by Mike Colby, Louis B. Colby in his book "Colby's Book of the American Pit Bull Terrier", Joseph Colby's book "American Pit Bull Terrier" or perhaps one of my all time favorites "The Sporting Bull Terrier" by Eugene Glass. John P. Colby (1875-1941) started his strain of the American Pit Bull Terriers in 1889 from some of the best dogs from England and Ireland brought to the United States by immigrants by sea ports such as Boston, Ma, Portsmouth, NH and New York. He also used some of the best established Gashouse stock already here in America from Boston along with the Teddy Racine’s bloodline that was off of Galtie which was imported from Ireland. The Colby dogs have been bred continuously since then and to this day are still known worldwide for their impeccable conformation, temperament, and gameness. During the "Great Depression of the 1930's" the American Kennel Club added American Pit Bull Terriers to their registry under the name of Staffordshire Terriers. With this new name for the breed, they needed a standard. After visiting a few kennels, a committee headed by Wilfred T. Brandon chose Colby's Primo as a standard for the breed. The "Colby" family of Dogs are one of the oldest and purest strain of dogs alive any where in the world today with well over 20 generations dating back to the 1890's. The Colby family still breeds American Pit Bull Terriers today. Just like their web sit boast, "Owning a Colby dog is like owning a piece of history".

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg61/chatnjack/primo-web.gif

The ADBA was founded in September of l909. John P. Colby was the mainstay of the ADBA which prompted their boasting of being the "home" registration office of the Colby dogs. The ADBA passed from the hands of Guy McCord to Frank Ferris in l951. Frank Ferris and his wife Florence, (the widow of the late John P. Colby) continued to run the ADBA exclusively until 1973 when through the recommendation of Howard Heinzl, Ralph Greenwood and his family purchased it. Not only would we not have our breed as we currently know it today but we also wouldn't have what I consider the APBT's parent registry, the ADBA without the Colby family. That being said about our breeds history, its only fair I commend the family who has dedicated their life to the continued future of our breed, The Greenwood family.

Wow jack... Cottons bullet!!!???? What a fabulous remark to be said of one of your dogs. You are a true asset to our awesome breed. Thank You.

TURNER & LOPOSAY'S MOLLY

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg61/chatnjack/MOLLY2009.jpg

Dan, Molly is heavy Loposay's Buster & Cotton's Bullet bred by none other than P. Loposay herself. I can't take any credit for that but I am proud of the way I've raised her, how she's turned out and the fact that Patsy allowed me to add my name to her's on her registration papers (something she's never allowed anyone else to do before, not even her ex-husband). As far as being an "ASSet" to the breed, LOL... well, a lot of people would agree with you on part of that comment.

Thank for letting me rant folks!

Kindest regards,
CHATNJACK
