That kong toy is the last thing he plays with, if he has nothing else or he is bored of the others. His favorite is my bedsheets, then the rope toys, then tennis balls, or anything that rolls. lol

Yeah, i wrote a blog about it lol. Its more of a rant about how painful it was this morning to clean up the mess. It was terrible, poor guy, he threw up and had diarrhea, i hope its not anything serious, i will find out tomorrow when i get them the poop sample..that i am not looking forward to collecting.

Yeah, its not a pretty sight. But they are already starting to heal, the scabs are starting to fall off. It just looks that low because its fallen on his head, since i got the crop with no bell. It needs to be taped so it can stand.

I think it needs to be taped for a week minimum, and if it still does not stand tape it again. I went with a crop between short and medium. 1.5 inches tall.

Well cropping just for the fact that he is a bully and has a big head is silly, i wont get into that cuz this thread isnt about that. As for czars ears i dont know how they look cuz i cant really see them not at this point in his recovery atleast. Czar looks GREAT though. Feeding him lots n lots i hope! I heard tampons placed in the ears is AWESOME for keeping them nice and standing and shapes them GREAT! Just what the word on the street is :). The hard part is figuring out how heavy Czars flow is ;)

awww i see... looks like his fell EXACTLY like kenyas. ears.. im gonna cross post what i did for her ears on here.... they dont need to be posted, becuz they are droopin at the base. the tampon thing works if the ears have fallen a different direction. Posting will not pop the base back out and get them to stand correctly. ur going to need to WRAP them downwards... also, shouldnt take a week ;) took kenya ONE night... ok cross post!



So if u happen to get your dogs ears cropped with NO bell im sure you are aware that they my have trouble propping upright. I had this problem with kenya. I got this helpful info from a good friend of mine ,Nestor (nesone on gopitbull).

so if u are having this kinda of problem, this is a method to get them to pop up.
what u do is this:

1. go to any grocery store or target or walmart, etc. u need to go down the first aid isle, and get some "first aid wrapping" its NOT tape, its a gauze like roll that people use to wrap their elbows or fingers. its white and pretty stretchy, and sticks to itself.

2. right at the base (where those pictures have circles) u will need to flop the ears downwards towards the floor. Basically it needs to resemble natural ears. once u have the ears pointing downward u wrap him/her up.

3. take the wrappin and start at the center on top of the heard and wrap around his head, and ears. (he will look like he has the mumps when ur done.) leave it on for a day or so, and then remove to see if the ears stood correctly. continue if his ears do not seem to stand.

a tip for u is to massage his ears after takig the wrappin off, give it a few minutes before deciding whether this process worked the first time. i had to do this with kenyas ears only once (lucky me) and since then they have stood perfect. Nesone also had this issue with smokeys ears when they were first cropped, and it worked for him too

ALSO wait at the VERY LEAST one full week, after stitches are removed, before attempting to wrap the ears. and ur pup may not like being wrape up, so i reccomend doing it at night before bed time.

i was paranoid as well. thats why i only did it over night. jsut be sure not to wrap to tight.. wrap up ur arm and see how loose it needs to be in order for ur blood to keep circulating, and do the same for him :)

What makes a dogs ears stand?
There are two determining factors as to when a dogs ears will stand on their own. One, is development and stiffening of the cartilage or "leather" of your dogs ears. The other, is the strength of the muscle between the ears. There is no "set" time for ears to stand, this is different for every dog.

How do i make my dogs ears stand?
You post them using tampons. Wadding up cotton and putting them in the bottom of the ears. Teaking a length of tampon cardboard 1" longer than the length of the crop. stick in ear. Take top of ear around the tampon and tape it upright. repeat on other side. Firmly but not tightly wrap the ears in tape around the posts. Secure the post together by the extra inch at the top with tape. Ears will stand alot better than taping them to the head.

well, one stood perfect the next day, but the other was still kinda goofy, but then by the end of the day they both stood... are u massagin them?

I do massage them. I have the same problem, one of them is starting to stand really good, the other one is still goofy. Also since i cut it short, every time he moves his ears it looks different, one sec i am like ah perfect..then i am like..waaait..its not right. lol

I wouldnt sweat it. That's the thing about going in for a cosmetic procedure. There's no guarantee that the ears will come out right in the end. Most do, but some take a lot more work than others. I can see why you said it was your first and would be your last crop lol sounds like a headache

hmm.... u are poppin the base the opposite side then wu wrap right? its not just point the ears downward, u have to make sure that ur actaully poppin the base up.....

Yes, they are being popped up. But they are very stubborn, if you push down they spring back up with force. But after 3 days, they don't spring back up anymore, but slowly come up half way as you see here. I just think i need to keep going.

you could have put him in novice on a empty cart to show him what its like to be on a track. I've done it to my pups before. Didnt get a full pull in but I got to help them down a track in a real enviroment. Don't know how much that helped but it was fun lol

Thanks Steph. I am gonna take all you guys advice at the show and start him on pulling as soon he gets older. I am getting him a puppy harness as soon as i can so he can walk around in it and get used to it. I don't know whats better, browns pit bull connection or stillwater. I think it was Jeff who told me Browns Harnesses are awesome.

Czars dad who has never been worked and is free fed, weighs around 80Lbs. So I am hoping i can condition him to be around or less than 70lbs.

Never used a Stillwater harness, all we use are Brown's, never had any probs with them and he is a great LOCAL guy. It would be a good connection for you to make;) He and another guy run the UKC club here.

crap-ola i didn't see this thread! Czar is so handsome! Here's my method which has been tried and true for me.. it's a cross between the tampon and the method Liil gave you.

You can use a tampon, but i prefer rolled up guaze because you can "custom" fit it to the width your dog needs.

sooo you need medical tape, gauze and patients. lol

I wrap each ear with medical tape individually with the rolled gauze inside making sure the ear cups the gauze. You want to always start at the base and work your way up to give the ears a better foundation. Then I pull the taped ears forward and take the medical tape and go from the back of the base of the ear towards the front of the opposite ear. The strips of medical tape will get longer and you will eventually have a figure 8 across the top of the head down under the chin. Making a little bonnet. You will loose some fur, but it will come back... the best way to take it of would be with either baby oil or a warm shower to loosen the glue. I would wrap them like this for 3-4 days and then take it off for a few days and then judge whether or not he needs to be wrapped again. Here's some pictures.

anti bell?, i don't think i have ever heard of that term before. All i told the vet was, 1.5" tall and no bell.

Yeah, they are naturally better now, i mean like two weeks ago, they wouldn't even stand a little bit, now they stand a little without any posting, i am guessing it would get better with age as his cartilage strengthens. He is going to get it posted this week, so hopefully they fully stand. *crosses fingers* lol

HA!! We had the luxury of having Leon and his special other come over to the house and look at the pups. While they were here we figured we would introduce Czar to the track!

He really seemed to pick it up pretty good. Saturday at the ADBA show we hooked him to the empty cart and he walked it right down the track 3-4 times and we quit him. Just and introduction, a building block for the future.

So its one week before the APA, show, decided to work Czar, then take him out to stretch a little bit. I am going to the vets office to weigh him today, so i do not know what he weights as of yet, i am thinking, around 75lbs.

He is doing great, i totally forgot about his birthday till days after and i was like, holy crap! that was fast, he is already a year old.

I weighed him at the vet two days ago, hes at a even 50lbs. Depending on he does on this coming weekends APA pull, i might bring him down a little to 48lbs for the GA ADBA show.

If he is 50lbs now, if you just dry him out he should come in at 48 day off show. We are going to make it down there after all, I will be bringing Rebel. I had the days confused!
