SO many of you know I have kumho who almost 1 and he gone SUPER DUMB.He DOES NOT know how to act unless he in crate or outside.Well take that back in crate.Outside he started barkin just to bark, driving neighbors nuts.We go on walks, he now finds it fun to pull as hard as he can, WITH A PINCH COLLAR. SHock collars on setting 5 dont phase him anymore.Setting one use to make him cry and tense up not now. When he comes inside for any reason (night time, day time, after walk and so on)He runs about the house jumping on whatever he feels like and when i attempt to correct him he either pulls away or fights me till i get hurt (he GREAT at steppin on feet).HE WAS trained and went dumb over last say month.Tonight when i let him out for "house time", i been TRYING to work with him nightly,he decided to mark my couch(remind u its microsuade and almost new) my BRAND NEW freezer and kitchen cabinets. He NEVER peed on anything till now.I need help getting my sweet kumho back before I give up on him.I cant handle this crap. His little stunts are ruining stuff and hurting me.BTW 90% of the time its me TRYING to correct him.HUbby just slings him into crate and tells him go to bed.Hell that dont help when he already crate trained.REMIND U he IS house broke.Accidents are not happening in house he just pissing to be marking.ANY IDEAS...i cant figure out how to help but i got how not to down well

Well I dont know how true this is but I heard that if you get them fixed it calms them down on the whole marking thing..More than likely would calm him down a little bit too.Do you have him fixed already? Again Im not sure how true that is...maybe someone will be able to further help you. Good luck ;)

Thrall was a baaaaad marker, I had him altered and he has not marked since. I think that your boy need to know that nothing in life is free. Make him work for every priviledge. It seems like he is bored, and getting anxious. Exercise his mind and his body. Teach him new tricks, always have one that you're working on, make him go through every command he knows several times per day. Make sure he gets plenty of physical exercise as well, if a walk isn't enough, start putting him on a treadmill, or work with a flirt pole.

Dogs go through personality changes at several points in their life. Its kind of variable when that happens, but thats what this sounds like. They just don't listen and generally act up badly. Just try and get through this phase maintaining as much control as possible.

Yes if a male dog is unaltered the majority of them, once they hit a certain age will start marking EVERYTHING, our lab Duke pees on women when we go on walks, he has to pee on everything he sees. I don't ever bring him in the house anymore. No offense to anyone, but I will never own another male dog, lol. BUT I have had males that have been neutered and they quit marking things AND they calmed down alot. Duke is the dumbest dog I ever met and I swear it is because he is unaltered. But if Kuhmo is already neutered then I would say it is a rebellious stage he may be going through just to test you patience. :)

welcome to the life of having a pitbull.
these dogs, if not given proper exercise, become destructive and dont listen.
you need to establish a bond with him and he needs to know that your the dominent one.
i know in my house, a tired dog is a happy dog.
Before i had my boy neutered he wouldnt submit to any dogs. it started to become a problem but after his operation hes really good about submitting to other dogs.

It kind of seems like the overall focus of this thread has shifted into this or that without taking into account the big picture. Its proven dogs go through personality changes, what the OP described sounds just like that. They test their boundaries again, they mark, they do all kinds of things. My opinion on the best thing to do is kind of like going back to phase 1 with training.

Thanks i guess I could get him fixed..Since I don't want to breed him yet the idea keeps running in my head. So none the less I run him 2 miles, walk him 1 mile.FLirt pole and play EVERY day some in morning some at night after run/walk.NORMALLY he is wore the hell out but lately im more tired then him.AND I got advice from a friend who does rescue to get a ace bandage and wrap his waist or puppy diapers for few days and that markin will end.DOES SHE REALLY think I can get something to stay on this Happy butt tail wagging fool?Im going to suck it up and go back to the shock collar training since it seems to work best.Dont even have to shock just tone it.BUt that means i gotta get a new trainer as this one wont fit around his big head/neck

nismo is being the same way and he is 9 months. i think as they get older they get smarter so they keep finding new ways to test boundaries. i know how you feel and its very frustrating.
it just seems like he is back tracking sometimes. but i know that if im consistant he will learn and grow out of this puppy stage some time.

You can easily make a belly band by going to the store and buying some heavy fleece fabric. Cut about 2 feet wide by 1 yard long. fold it long ways 3-4 times, making it about 6 inches by 1 yard, tie it around his waist, holding his weiner tightly against his tummy, and make sure it is tied very securely, remember they can lie down and stretch out to get it off. Thrall was a master of escaping his belly band, and he had an expensive, store bought one. The idea of the belly band is that they pee on themselves when they try to mark. When he does it, do not take the band off right away, make him wear it for a few minutes, so he feels uncomfortable. You can even add a depends pad to the part next to his weiner if you want, but its easier to just make a few, and keep tossing them in the wash, they usually get the hang of it pretty quick. He has to wear it all the time, except when he is put out to potty. So if he's inside, the band is on.

Lol, I never heard of this technique..but i see how it could be effective...Czar isn't old enough to start marking, but if he marks in the house..me squeezing his nuts is the last thing he needs to be worried about.

I have two intact males in my household. They don't mark, get put on their backs, or have their 'nuts squeezed'. They weren't born housetrained, they were taught, and supervised until they understood where they should eliminate.

razors edge, your advice might get somebody bitten.

I wish you would make a commitment to your dog & come to my obedience classes. I doubt it's much more than fifteen miles and you can come for free.

Have you ever considered giving your dog to somebody who doesnt squeeze his nuts? or abuse there animals? .....just a thought.

I'm all for whatever works for you, in fact had a huge stink raised in my house about it tonight, but nut squeezing seems sadistic. I'm certain there are many, many other things you can do(physically) besides that that will send the same message. That post in combination with your user name says alot.

i would laugh if you were on the news for getting mauled by your own dog, but it would be bad publicity.
honestly wtf

he does NOT LIKE IT when momma ignores him and tells him that he a bad boy for peeing on stuff.2 days down and no more marking.Guess my yelling voice got into his big ol block head and since he made kate cry (knocking her over) he has been super gentle around her so I guess he was just testing waters.
