I like how they asked him if they thought the tazer was necessary he says "yes". WTF? You couldn't subdue her w/ out a tazer? Really?

Man, I could rant and rave about the ineptitude of the police for days.

Leon

I could rant and rave about people in general....If you take a sample of thousand people, there is bound to be certain percent of dumb people, its the same for any profession.

Dansgrizz
06-12-2009, 08:22 AM
Yah more is expected from some professions though. I heard there are on average 64 "wrong side" surgeries every year LOL goes for doctors too I guess

Leon
06-12-2009, 08:35 AM
More is expected in any profession that deals with the safety and well being of others. But people are people, and there will ALWAYS be stupid people. You could argue that the process of getting into these professions should eliminate these people who are not fit, but there is no way of knowing how people might turn out in the future.

That is why one must take extra precaution when dealing with these people, like cops, doctors..etc. I am not scared of cops or doctors, but i definitely don't trust them. Sure most cops and doctors are good, but all it takes is for one to kill you.

When she tells him she can't get her arms behind her back, you can see her trying, and he keeps threatening to tazer her again! What an idiot!

Leon
06-12-2009, 01:33 PM
THIS Cop is a moron. But by no means should be generalize, because thats what we are fighting with our dogs. How would we feel if some other site had a thread called "ANOTHER aggressive pit bull".

Dansgrizz
06-12-2009, 02:30 PM
I'd go educate them LOL his department is defending him I don't think I'd stand up for some "idiot" pit bull owner or a bad dog. This breed take alot of responsibilty, so does that job! The fact that they stand by and let these numskulls CONTINUE doing their job leaves them open to critcism. Can't fix stupid I guess. Unless they make an active effort to weed these people out ,which I don't see happening, then i think it's fair to generalize.

Leon
06-12-2009, 02:36 PM
I know you will. :p

Well, you cant anticipate what individuals might do in the job. A person might be trained for something, and told to do a task, but its up to the person to do it. Unless its a clear cut violation of the law, most departments do stand by their officers, since they do take some responsibility for his actions, but its still case by case, not across the board.

Dansgrizz
06-12-2009, 02:40 PM
I debated with some girl at a bday party last night her opening argument was those dogs should be illegal!!! Her closing thoughts were where do I get a game bred apbt?! Lmfao!! She was a smart cookie too I just had to flex my pit bull nutz at her to make her come around LOL

Leon
06-12-2009, 02:51 PM
Thats awesome. But i don't have time to give every person a lecture about pitbulls, since there are too many around here. So when they say "Is that a pit bull?" i go no, he just looks like one, a lot of dogs look like pitbulls, hes a mix.

resisting arrest...i dont care how old you are you break the law and resist an officer you get what you deserve. he could have cause a lot more damage by slamming her into the ground. its nice to be able to keep calling cops dumb until you need them.

Theyve never been there when i needed them. So i wouldnt know what to think but how incompetent they are. I knoiw this much about cops... IF IM IN NEED THEY ARE THE LAST PEOPLE I WILL CALL!!!! treating the innocent like the guilty and giving the guilty too many freedoms. As for this officer he made an uneducated decision. If this woman had a pace maker or a heart condition SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD!!!!! If resisting arrest is a death sentence michelle and your ok with that, that punishment meets that crime? shit why have jurys then! thats fine. is that what she deserved michelle, an execution for resisting arrest!!!!!?????? :wtf: I believe this GROWN MAN could have handled an elderly woman in an easier manner than shocking her! BTW he did slam her to the ground in the footage. Does resisting arrest the way she did give an officer the right to slam you to the ground or worse?! sounds like extreme force to me. Thats the problem with cops today, they are above the law. Yet have no idea how to treat other with respect. What an odd combination.

Leon
06-14-2009, 12:43 AM
I whole heartedly agree that this was a excessive use of force, BUT at the same time this does not excuse the woman from breaking the law. Even though she did not deserve the treatment she got, but everything she got was a direct result of her own actions. And michelle is absolutely right in this sense.

And please stop with the IF scenarios, you really don't want to go down that road, because quiet frankly considering the amount of cops killed while making routine stops, this woman was more likely to carry a gun than to have a pacemaker.

ItsMe
06-14-2009, 12:53 AM
What about a cop pointing a gun at my head and saying "I'll shoot you in the face"? Thats not an "IF" scenario. That happened. I was handcuffed when this happened by the way. What about my mom being mistreated by the cops because of me whe she's the one who called? Street cops are all about controlling people(I don't mean in an ideal public service sense, but thats what gets their rocks off sense), detectives only want to close a case and don't care how that happens, and the high ranking officials only care about politics and pensions. I wouldn't call them for anything.

Dansgrizz
06-14-2009, 12:57 AM
I'd say a 72 year old woman would much more likely have a pacemaker than a gun! Stop with the if scenarios?! Quite frankly.... Just cuz you say please, doesn't mean it's not a rediculous request. Of course why not mention all the innocents shot by cops? There is 2 sides to every coin.

My question is, why was this woman being arrested for doing 65 in a 45, or whatever it was? Last time I checked, speeding was not an arrestable offense, unless it was a wreckless endangerment charge, but the news says, as does the woman, that she was cited for speeding. IMO she had no reason to have to put her hands behind her back or had to be accused of resisting arrest in the first place, why was she even taken out of her car, what probable cause did they have to remove her from her vehicle, and try to arrest her? She was released like an hour later, so they had no case on her, it seems like she was being pushed around by a dickhead, and then arrested when she did not comply. Not all cops are like that, and I feel like someone should look into what caused this whole thing in the first place.

I've seen it a few times on those shows with the police videos where an older person who has never been arrested gets pulled over by a mean cop, one thing leads to another and it always ends up like what happened here. The idea of being arrested is so foreign and shocking to them that they reacted badly. If you watch the cop on that video, his voice and body language were agressive, which is indicative of a cop with an impure motivation for being on the job. I didn't mean to get mad earlier, but I have been mistreated by the police firsthand. We, as a society, need to hold them to a higher standard. When they use excessive force, we shouldn't say its the persons fault for not complying because of that. A taser is near last resort weapon. Most reputable cops would probably say you shouldn't use one on someone that old. Also, its a 72 year old women! I could have handled her and if I can a police officer certainly should be able to.

Plus she had her back to the cop and was walking away, there was no reason for the cop to feel any threat. He could have walked to the driver's side door, and just blocked her from getting in, and if she pushed or shoved him, he could have easily subdued her and arrested her without need of a tazer. Yes she reacted badly, but if he had accidently killed her with that tazer, the lawsuit and following investigation would just be a drain on tax payers. He could have just let her leave, she's 72, where would she go, they could swing by her house later and pick her up. You can't treat a confused old lady the same way you would treat a crackhead, part of the responsibility of being a police officer is knowing how to use the correct amount of force and the correct approach. Here's an if, what if she had alzheimer's or dementia, maybe early onset and no one even knows, what would a reasonable person use to judge her actions by? Maybe the fact that she went 72 years with no record? She was walking away, and not threatening?

Any defense of that cop goes out the window when he threatens to tazer her again when she is unable to put her arms behind her back, and it is obvious if you watch the video, that she tried, but was hurt, disoriented, ad old, and could not manage it. Just remember a man that tazers old ladies, and then threatens to tazer them again is a man who will shoot a pitbull who is wagging its tail because it was going to "maul" him.

Yes, in MY opinion, IF scenarios are retarded when you have the FACTS. There is nothing unknown here where we need to speculate, the video is clear cut. And unless she HAS a pace maker, i don't even know why it needs to be bought out, since there could potentially be a dozen IF scenarios you could come up with. The real issue here is excessive force, i would be equally outraged if this was done to a 25 yr old man or a 72 yr old woman.

Life is made up of IF scenarios. IF you do this, THIS could happen. Consequences for your actions. He didn't think about the consequences of his. I would be more outraged if he tazed a bus load of kids one by one than if he tazed the grandma, I'm outraged he tazed granny. 25 yo guys get tazed everyda, and no one cares. This is a big deal because of his judgement and excessive force. Bad judgement and excessive force run rampant in the police BECAUSE of the type of individuals it attracts and the low standards to get into it.

Hmmm I have an 83 year old grandfather that i love and respect so much he is a WWll vet and retired CIA. And if he was treated like that i would do what ever it takes to find justice for him. You have to take into consideration ppl age and condition. How is this any diffrent than taizing a child? The older a person gets the more they regreses to the point of they are allmost like children and cant take care of them selves. I think the cop could of turned her around and put her hands behind her back and cuffed her with out straining one bit. ANd like floorcandy said. Why the fuck was she even tooken out of her car? Wtf did the cop expect to find Crack. LOL.

Now i will admit Not all cops are bad. Hell i work with some awsome cops at my unit. But Im allso the last person to call the cops. For me they complicate matters. The only reason i would call them is if property was stolen or damaged. I Think all of theses asshole cops should try to join and hang with the army so at least the ppl they do arrest are really the enimies and not civilins. Then they can act like assholes all they want. Only problem is the cops im talking about prolly couldent make the cut.

My comment on the regression of older ppl was not ment to belittle but unfortunatly its a fact of life just like death.

The whole time I was watching the video I was thinking what if that was my grandmother? I agree with Infinity, you never know when dementia will start, my grandmother was fine until she was in her 80s, but then started leaving the stove on, and getting angry, and crying for no reason. It's sad, but what if she would have had a mood swing around a cop, would a loving mother, wife of a public servant, church volunteer, helpful neighbor, and I don't even have time to write all of the wonderful things about her lol, does a good person deserved to be tazed because they get confused in their twilight years? I hope karma kicks that guy in the balls when he's an old man.
