Anyone with a motorbike on here? Seeing as how I just got my ass kicked to the curb, I felt I needed to redirect my attention from being miserable and feeling sorry for myself and I went and wrote my Motorcycle learners on Monday. Even though I am on a VERY strict budget I thought hell...why not!

This is the bike that I am looking at buying:

I wanted a bike really bad when gas prices were real high last summer. Not so much now, but considering gas prices are climbing, i might think about it.

The only bike i want is a mountain bike. Like Dan said, too many crazy car drivers to be riding on a bike in the road.

What you think about the reliability of the Harley?...i heard they are not as good compared to the other manufacturers. I had a buddy who interned as a engineer in a Harley Plant, and he said the unionized worked did the minimum they can and it affected the over all quality of the bikes.

OOh do you have pull????? LOL I want a V-Rod for next year hopefully a used one.

I think when you buy a harley you buy into the "cult". Harley Davidson has made such an impact on the motorcycle world that people buy them to get into all the events that they do. They host more events than any other company (IMO). I think they are beautiful bikes and I do want one, but I heard they are not made as well as a Honda per se.

VERY TRUE... harleys are pretty shitty lol... but yes... my buddies have a harley crew and those guys are ALWAYS riding and having events... when u buy a harley ur buyin the lifestyle... not a bike haha

Thats why people buy bikes period. For the life style. I mean i don't think there are many people who use bikes as a means of transportation. I prefer choppers over stock bikes.

OldfortKennels

I used mine as transporation and lifestyle. I put over 2k in a month on one of my bikes!

I've never understood it when I buy a used bike from 2004 and it has 5k on it???? I put 5k on a bike in 3 months!!

Depends on what you do with your bike. Sport bikes are fast and fun with pretty good reliability. That being said long trips are probably not the best idea on a sport were a touring bike from harley is probably the best thing you can get. I do think Harley is behind the times as far as engines go. I think you will see the liquid cooled engine from the v rod be the next evolution for the bikes. I think the bikes hold up just as well as any metric but they HAVE to be maintained like any other vehical so they run right.
One thing about Harley is it can change your outside life, it is a cult type with most of these guys. The other thing that Harley has is resale....no metric bike holds resale like a Harley.

I want a KLR650 so I can shoot out to my fishing streams as fast as possible. I've been wanting a dual sport for awhile. KTM makes some bad ass ones too. BMW is too much but that Daqar is a nice lookin bike.

OldfortKennels

The KLR is a nice bike. If you want a good all around bike I like the FZ1. Put lowers on it and it looks like a sportbike with the comforts of a dual sport!

Dansgrizz
