View Full Version : Update on Thor....
Well I am sad to say that Thors heart problems are fatal. They can not operate because they say the issues will just return.
After the echocardiogram the found that he has three issues with his heart. The first and the worst of the three sub aortic stenosis. The other two she said would not be that bad alone but all three at once is not good. They have put him on Atenolol for the rest of his life. They told us he could have one more day or 5 years. But they said he would not live to be an old age. When he does go she said it will be sudden.
They would like for us to do one or two more echocardiogram in a few months to see how fast it is progressing.
But for now we will just try to keep him as happy as we can......
Here is what they found...
Severe subarotic stenosis
Moderate aortic insufficiency
Moderate pulmonic stenosis
Mild pulmonic insufficiency
Small restrictive membranous ventricular septal defect

Omg, I just want to be there for you and just cry. That has to be so truly hard. So are you just gonna do the medicine for the rest of his life? How much does it cost if you don't mind me being too personal? Oh my Whitney, I am just soo lost for words. I couldn't even imagine. My heart and prayers go out to him so much.

The good die young. I'm sorry to hear this Whitney! I'm glad to know Thor will spend the rest of his life with you and your family.
He is not in pain. And while he is still with us he won't be a normal dog. Meals have to be broken into 6 to 8 tiny meals. No heavy play. In warmer months he needs to stay inside during the day. He will have to be on the meds for the rest of his life. The meds are not bad at all. Just $30 a month.
I am so sorry to hear that. He reminds me of Czar, i am glad your doing everything you can for him.
Thank you.
We will do whatever it takes....

Poor, poor baby. I'm glad that he will be with you and you will make him happy. I'm so sorry.
Thank you..
We are sad but at the same time we are super happy. I was scared the vet was going to say he needed to be put down. But she said his heart is looking good so far. She said I can't quote her but she thinks he will have years.....As soon as she said that my tears went dry and the biggest smile arose....lol

Oh how cute is that...Zoe must love that little boy to peices....Ughhh at work...that sucks lol....is there anyone else home with them?
Nope. I put up 5 baby gates to let them have our whole kitchen. The kitchen is about 20ft x 25ft...maybe bigger. Got 4 dang dog beds in there. I've been doing that the last few days and I'll come home to all three on the same dog bed passed out..LOL. Hubby says he can chew on stuff in the kitchen because he's gonna rip it all out next year...LMAO
