Badin, NC: Dog ordinance to be revisited by council, June 9, 7 PM
Posted on June 4, 2009 by stopbslcom
During an April discussion about the proposed dog ordinance, Badin Councilman Larry Milano suggested that it could be made breed-specific. Whether this was done or not is unclear. Concerned area residents should attend the next council meeting on June 9, 7 PM.

Badin Council reviews dog, speed ordinance
By Tiffany Thompson, News Editor

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 — The Badin Town Council recently revisited two ordinances that were tabled after the April 14 meeting.

The first ordinance, which would amend an ordinance passed in 1998, provides for authorized protective measures for confinement of dogs.

After a code enforcement issue brought to light concerns about dog confinement, the council decided to review the ordinance.

Several residents in the town also had concerns about dangerous dogs in the neighborhood.

The council chose to table the ordinance after the last meeting to allow for clarification and to address a concern of the ordinance being vague.

Though much of the amended ordinance was more specific, council requested to table it for further clarification.

“The town council has asked that some sections of the ordinance be further reviewed for clarity and detail of guidelines regarding the confinement and restraint of dogs as well as the specifics of enforcement of those guidelines,” said Jay Almond, town manager.

The next regular council meeting will be June 9 at 7 p.m. with a public hearing to discuss the proposed 2009-2010 budget to begin at 6:45 p.m.

The council plans to revisit the speed limit and confinement of dogs ordinances at the next meeting.
