Just curious, when a pit has it's hips xrayed, is the tail visable in the film?

Depending on the position of the dogs tail during the xray it may be hard to see. But in my experiences yes you can usually find the tail in the xrays.

I am questioning this breeder and the film she has posted on her website. No record of this dog was found on the OFA database. Seemed somewhat odd to me to have a dog recieve an "excellent" score and no published number or name found with the OFA. She also says the dog will be tested a second time before being bred in 2011, yet has pictures of her previous litter from 2009 on another page.

What is your opinion?

I personally feel if it's not listed on OFA site it was never done, or received a score that was not wanting to be viewed. There is no way to prove that is even an x-ray of that dog. Kudos for actually checking online, but if this breeder cannot provide you with an OFA number to cross check with this girls hips then I would run, because if this is the case they went to great lengths to lie. IMPO if you spend the money to have the hips done or whatever else, and you are a breeder, regardless of the results they should be posted if you plan to use the dog for breeding purposes. Especially if that health testing is a reason for a breeder wanting to charge more for their puppies...that is of course if they are a "reputable" person/breeder.

Also not sure why they would "do it again" unless the other test was a prelim done before 24mo of age.

It also says "fully health tested and approved for breeding"...by who's standards? What does that mean exactly? I ask cause it only references hips. I would be curious to know what they mean, and what other tests they may be referring to.

I would also be careful about any breeder that doesn't know what color their dogs are and are claiming they are something they are not or doesn't even exist.
Champagne Blue?? Champagne Chocolate??

Also looks like they plan to breed both their females in 2011, one seems a bit young as it was a product of their last litter, but if you are interested I would inquire about what males they are using(since they have none of their own and don't list pedigrees or the male from the last breeding) and information and health testing about these dogs as well. None of the dogs seem to have accomplished anything that would make them worthy of being bred, and appear to be nothing more then house pets being bred...

Here is another picture of OFA Excellent Hips that I took from Google images...so it's not tough to get a picture of any old hips, this one shows the tail bones too.

To many red flags for me.
None of the info about the ofa makes scence. Why the second test?
From the looks of her site she seem more a back yard breeder. I didnt see any titles on the dogs so begs the question why are they being breed.
I would look for anouther breeder.
