I am not going to be able to make it out to this show:( Pregnancy issues. However Optimus Prime (pluto now) will be out there with his new owners and this is her first show. Could any of my friends that come across them please give them a helping hand in what to do at a show lol. I was subposted to be there to help her out, but now she will be all on her own.

Hey I am gonna do my hardest to make it, it depends on our money situation, not doing so good right now, bleh. Soooooooo, if I do go though, I am so confused on how to even come about showing Faith. When I get there is that when I pay her entry and stuff? Do I crate her till it is her turn to show or do I walk around with her? I am soooo lost, I have never even been to a show before.

Yes pay your parking at the door THEN go to our registration table and register for all events necessary. I believe we are asking all dogs to be in crates unless being shown or in the staging area.

Show rules apply even to the fun shows :)
Please have your dog in a flat metal BUCKLE collar no quick snaps (training collars are not allowed, ie prong or choke collars), also have a strong 4' lead and no dogs within 5' of each other. If you dog is not in the show ring, or on deck for the weight pull they MUST be crated at all times and only one dog per crate. Exception is pottying your dog then back into the crate :)

YOu can set up your little area first then go register your dog ( you don't need to take your dog with you or have your paperwork for a fun show), there is usually a table set up that says registration on it, you sign up for whichever classes you want there and they give you your number. You may want to sit close to the ring so you know what class is coming up when, they will call for you to be on deck before your class starts you line up outside the entrance to the ring.

FUN classes (ie best black nose, blue nose, ect) are paid for at the entrance to the ring as you are going in. So have your dog and the entrance fee ready to hand to the ring steward.

Well the only collar I have for Faith is the one from stillwater kennels. It is 1.5" and it does have the buckle, but it is the black overlaid with the green. Do I need to get a new collar? I already know I need a new lead only because all mine are really long, grrrr...

Nope that collar is fine. Flat metal buckle means just the buckle itself has to be metal pretty much the rest of the collar doesnt matter :) can be leather or nylon.

Oh and what do I wear? I would love shorts, lol, it has been extremely hot here, but are jeans okay? Also, I have a problem with Faith standing still when ppl are near, is it normal for a 5 1/2 month old puppy to bounce around everywhere when a judge or somebody is nearby or handling her? I just don't want to be embarressed. She jumps up, licks to much, yada yada yada, lol. Or should I wait till the next show when she is worked with better?

You can wear wahtever you want. They aren't as foofy as UKC shows and its a fun show. But I would recommend tennis shoes. Most of these dogs don't stand nicely in the ring lol so don't worry about it. You will be fine! Just remember its all for FUN! :)

Alot of people wore boots to the setup and I'm glad I did I'll be wearing my redwings as usual there are some stickers about it got a good mow but some of the tennie wearers were regretting it laura. We are expecting tempeatures in the mid to low 80's and sunny.

Hmmm... I am in trouble, lol, all I own is flip flops. I do everything in flip flops, even around the horses out in the pasture, haha. you know i did :) ill be posting them up for sure!!! im sifting through them now. it was a sucesful show. :) i didnt see anyone really from the forums. Too bad online dog fan doesnt translate into real life LOL. Im not talking to you holly or laura. I am thinking more of someone from woodland that was talking MAD shit about the show and didnt have the balls to show. OH WELL. We had some great dogs, some great people, and we had a great time. A guy from finland even showed up!!! There was information to be shared and friends to be made. We even had a celebrity show up...err if you can call her that LOL. Brittanya from VH1s rock of love was at the show... i got a picture with her just to make the folks here jealous LOL. ill be posting shortly. First i need to wash the dirt off.

I can't wait to meet some fellow doggers from the area. I was shocked cane76 didnt show after all his hot air. I know you ladies had unforseeable circumstances but I wish other APBT owners would come out and show support for there local adba club. I guy even avowed from Finland that doesn't own an APBT yet, the love for this breed is strong. I'll PM you with some info holly to spread the love for the breed :)

Man I really wish I was able to go, since I have never been to a show though, especially an ADBA one, I thought alot of those dogs looked really thick. I mean gorgeous dogs, but even the puppy that one was really thick. I seen some pics of a few nice APBT that looked nice and lean, which is exactly what Faith looks like, lol. Now I keep wondering if Faith would have had a chance, lmao. Looks like you had tons of fun.

Yes it was a blast!!! I encourage everyone to put aside your differences and come together for the dogs. That IS what it's about!! There will always be people that don't like eachother in this breed for silly reasons but we got to get together and stand united for the dogs. Coming to the shows helps spread awareness and brings support to our breed. I hope to see everyone from California at our next show, 2 months peple makes plans to come!!!!

Inbreeding tightens genetics and can throw some AWESOME dogs it can also bring out the worst in the genes if bred incorrectly. IF you have flaws in your gene pool inbreeding is sure to bring it out.

Any woo. Dan next show make sure somebody is on the tight buckle collar rule some of those collars where loose and some didnt have buckle collars at all Ive seen some bad things happen from simple slips like that. Only looking out for yall as always

THANKYOU laura. Yes some rules need to be implemented tighter. Thanks for noticing ;) it WAS our first show and ALOT of bully owners showed up to contribute to our event. The are into certain collars ya know? AS FOR THE CART... thats one of our board members dogs Keeno off of an RE product off of throwin knuckles and purple rose of cairo and he was giving kids rides on his cart not to mention towing generators, supplies, etc... a good working bull dog. As for the middle picture that is a president discussing the parking situation with tow of the club members trying to make sure the show went smoothly down to the last minute. I took the last picture because IT WAS HILARIOUS that guy had a stand for working collars and harnesses...bnite sleeves, flirt poles, agitation gear....very cool guy and knowledgable about the sports of schutzhund the dog with the working harness on though is a LITTLE bit much LOL. Thanks for the laughs laura very funny stuff!

There is a UKC show in rancho Cordova on July 17,18,19 if your dog is registered and our next adba fun show will be in about a month or two if your dogs not, it will be relatively close to Sacramento. Our last show was in Woodland, close to Sac.
