To many people all natural and organic is the way to go. I used neem oil and extracts for years in gardening and was never aware of the benefits this nifty plant offered my dogs. check this info out on neem oil and neem extracts. Neem is an oil extracted from the neem tree leaves, bark, and seeds. It is a major natual remedy in india. Neem oil can be mixed with different shampoos, powders, creams, and can even be injested by a dog. What neem does is it coats the outside of as pest or insect and stops its lifecycle from moving past a certain stage. Neem oil can be used for fleas, mange, ringworm, and can be ingested to deal with parasites in the stomach. Neem oil is administered in such ways by combining neem seed oil with a shampoo to bathe your dog for fleas or putting some in his bath water, same works for mange. For isolated spots of mange it can be mixed with a cream this works for ringworm also. Neem has a holistic effect when it comes to arthritis or joint pain it can be rubed directly on the skin to relieve pains, irritating rash symptoms and is a VERY CHEAP alternative to many other procedures. Neem leaves can be steeped to make a tea and given to a dog to drink to help kill and even prevent parasites.

A word on Tea Tree oil aka Melaleuca
Aborigines have used tea tree teas and oil for centuries if not more. Tea tree oil posesses many of the same positive traits that neem does but has a couple more tricks up its sleeve one of its active ingredients is Terpenin - 4 which is an antimicorbial, antifungal and antiseptic agent so this stuff is not to be ingested!! however if your dog was to get a nasty scrape on a walk, a swab of tea tree through the affected area can disinfect and prevent infection. Tea Tree oil can be used for treating ringworm, mange, joint pain, external parasites etc....

WARNING!!! Tea Tree oil if used in large quantities on an animal or applied to an are where an animals can lick or ingest the oil can cause a violent reaction such as death! Most of these animal death are cats because of a certain nerve disorder many cats carry that makes them suscpetible to the terpenin - 4 (yes it is like terpentine)

I hope this was useful to any people looking to add something to their first aid kits or possibly a more organic treatment. If anyone knows of other uses for these thatd be awesome! BTW in humans these substances are used to treat malaria, leprosy, athletes foot, scabies, and a range of other diseases and afflictions.
