What is the best brand of tennis balls for dogs? So far I learned that Penn pressureless suck. Every time I give Peanut one with in a day it is cracked open. My moms boss gave me wilsons and some other kind for Peanut but we have gone thru those already. We are down to the last 6 balls and I want to find him some that last a little longer. He is a tennis ball freak. I am trying to find good tennis balls in bulk.

I don't know the brand but we get them at Dick's Sporting Goods. They are used for street hockey but their still tennis balls just don't have all the bounce. Last forever!

I personally dont use tennis balls because of the health risk. I have a good friend that has had to have a tennis ball removed from his german sherpards stomach twice and I have seen one of my dogs rip them to shreads in less than a min so to keep from having to pay for that expensive surgery I dont use tennis balls I use little kong balls or the little squeeze throw awayable balls that go through the digestive system easier. I have also used baseballs cause once you get the cover off its like unwinding a ball of yarn it takes them a little while but tennis balls when broke open have sharp edges in the inside that can really hurt your dogs stomach and intestants if digested

Yeah I'm guilty of letting them play with tennis balls cuz they found one in the yard. hehe.
I prefer to use Wubbas, They are a lot bigger and easier to throw.

Well so far he has never tried to eat one and when they do break open they go in the trash and tennis balls are a supervised toy here (i know what you mean about them getting ingested i have seen the removal of a tennis ball surgery a few years back when i worked at the vet). That is why i am looking for a better quality ball that can be used for a longer time.
Wubbas don't get much intrest here....i bought 2 of them neither one does he play with just tries to eat off the arms:(

Tough chew tennis balls are the feed store if you want bounce use a lacrosse ball solid rubber. Tennis balls are easily breakable and can be swallowed too easily. I don't use regular ol' tennis balls because of that.

what is a tough chew tennis ball? and will a lacrosse ball hurt his teeth if he does catch it? (i have never seen a lacrosse ball :()
fetch is Peanut's favorite thing to do and lately the Penn balls break so fast its just not worth it they go automatically in the trash. I have been lucky he doesn't try to eat them he just brings it back and waits for me to throw broken pacman ball then i throw it away and get a new one....

tough chew is a brand and it is sold at petco i belive... a lacrosse ball is heavy and he probly shouldnt be catching it in his mouth. it is like a baseball sized rubber ball. its solid.

Lacrosse balls are smaller than tennis balls but they ate steel in middle covered with a hard rubber. I would NOT recommend you ever use that for your dog. I've been hit by a few they hurt lol

Maybe try the ones on the rope? I dunno those kinds of toys never last very long around my place anyway lol

I use them all the time i jsut dont let them catch them in thier mouth. They can be tossed long distances, if chewed are not hard so cant crack teeth, and i dont throw balls AT my dogs so i dont have problems.

Still not something I would recommend, I played lacrosse for a long time, since they are pretty small they can be easily swallowed, just not a good choice for a dog toy, but by all means do what you want.

Michelle, have you seen the kong balls?

Have you seen these tennis balls?

BTW a lacrosse ball is pretty much the exact size of a tennis ball. So if you afraid of a choking hazard thats something to consider.

The Penn titanium tennis balls. Remy has yet to break one of these and they've been here for about 3 months. She split the normal ones in a matter of days. These tennis balls are really strong. Might wanna try those.

I have one of those red kong balls too. The only thing about those are that they are so heavy and bouncy that when you throw them, they go way farther than you threw and are liable to bounce up over a fence or whatever.

Wow those Penn tennis balls are kind of expensive but if they really last.

Here's a website with toys that are said to be indestructible they have some ball looking toys
http://www.indestructibledogtoy.net/

My main toy is my flirt pole. Plushies, balls, canvas, wubba's all those don't last very long. lol.

Yes, they are solid. Very heavy and bouncy. Very durable. You could actually probably hurt someone pretty good with one.

Lady found a tennis ball in my mom's yard tonite, it was destroyed in about 7 mins. She never eats or swallows them, just pulls the "fur" off, then breaks it into 5 billion pieces. My bros play hockey and lacrosse, and many of their balls and stuff have Lady love marks on em lol. If they put their toys away, she wouldnt chew em up, she thinks if she finds it in the dirt and grass, it must be fair game. She doesn't like the lacrosse balls as much as the tennis balls, but they do keep her busy for a while :-)

yeah tennis balls are for chasing here not eating :) they are put up when not chasing and when they break open they go in the trash. i cant get them to play with the kong ball :( maybe its something in the rubber kong uses because even the regular kong and wubba they wont play with them.

I am trying to teach Czar to fetch. He kind of gets it, but he still thinks the ball is a chew toy.

i hate playing fetch with lexi its more of a work out for me then her, i throw it she goes after it and then runs in another direction so she can get away and destroy it. not a fun game espcially when im chasing the ball more than she is

Peanutsmommy

hahaha sounds like she is playing fetch with you!
for Peanut fetch was natural you throw it he comes back every time and we didnt train him he just returns for more..which is great for him to work out he gets in like an hour of wind sprints for fun

Czar runs to the ball and comes back to me....but he don't always bring back the ball...i give him treats so sometimes he drops the ball in the middle and jumps on my hands lol.

LOL! How ironic. Zeus loves playing fetch but Coaco will go chase it then make me chase after her to get it. And me being the idiot that I am, I chase her.

Lady loves fetch, but it is so hard on her knees, I think I need to find other hobbies. She has a bump in her surgery scar, so I hope she didn't shake anything loose.

O and BTW, she gnawed a lacrosse ball to pieces this weekend, and it was 100% rubber, no metal center. I bought a bunch, and drilled through one to put a rope through, so there is definitely no metal center, just hard rubber.

I bought pack of balls made by Chuck-it. They are made of rubber and hold up alot better then tennis balls( at least with Cash they do).

if anyone is interested I am bringing in some new tennis balls made for dogs. This means that the felt used is easier on the dogs teeth (a lot of people do not realize that the felt on a regular tennis ball is abrasive and will ware dogs teeth) and have extra thick natural rubber walls.

Josey wasn't interested in tennis balls at all except to pull the fuz off of them. We too found the Chuck-it ball and she loves to catch it or retrieve it. It gives when she bites down on it and so far doesn't have a mark on it.
