My stepfather had brought home a dog last week that he found in the woods, while hiking/camping. He really wanted to keep it sonce their dog is old (14-16?) Everyone they were camping with loved him, predominanty men lol. So he brought it home, and my mom is terrified of it. They took it to the vet for shots and a checkup, and he had to be muzzled (lady vet). So I'm thinking great, an aggressive dog, just what they need, but maybe I can work with it.

So hubby had something come up with his family in NJ and so we took the dogs to my moms for the day, we tried to intro slowly, 1 at a time, and he's fine with Raisin and Thrall the pug and EB, but Lady hates him and he hates Lady, hubby later told me Lady only went nuts after I went in the fence with him, so I think she picks up on his hatred. So we put Lady in her crate, and they rotated all day.

Before we left I took Raisin upstairs to see my mom, she was in her room. When we walk in she's in tears, she is terrified of him, and won't go downstairs when he's in the house because he went after her a few times. So fast foreward to last night, hubby and I got back to my mom's and decide to walk him to see how he is away from the home and family. Well we could hardly get the leash on him. We took him out and he was snippy. When we got back none of us, my brother included could remove the leash. I finally got it off, and was scratching his ear telling him what a good boy he was trying to get my bro to be able to remove the choker, and with no warning he turned and snapped at my hand, I felt teeth graze my pinkie.

He lunged at me when I sat on the couch, and my brother had to grab him, so we locked him in the laundry room because he hates me lol. I had to do laundry so hubby went to go do it, and I was afraid for him so I peeked through the door, and the dog just lowers its head and starts growling at me. So this is a bad situation.

My mom weighs maybe 85 lbs, and the dog is pretty big, I think maybe Akita/rotti/GSD/Husky (it howls like a werewolf), it its black and tan, one ear looks like a rotti, one roses like a pit. Curly tail, and black spotted tongue. My mom said that my step dad let it in when Lady was in the house, and it went after the cat, and Lady went after it, my stepdad said Lady went after the cat and Jak (new dog) went after Lady. I think the cat went after one or both dogs, and caused the tussle lol, no bites, just a bunch of posturing and growling before my stepdad pulled him outside.

I spoke with my brothers and explained how the dog might go after one of their friends if it got scared, or if their parents had an argument it might go after mom, and they understand, I kind of had a fight with my stepdad, but he gave in, and now I'm looking for a rescue. The dog has fear motivated aggression, and I think it can be worked with and socialized, but my stepdad works rotating shifts and 2 out of every 3 weeks my mom is home alone, my little bro is too small to help other than walks and stuff, and my older bro works every night after class at Pathmark, so it would be my mom alone with the dog, and my 13 year old bro, and I don't think they have the experience necessary to rehab the dog, especially since my mom stays in her room and cries. So if anyone can recommend a good rescue that will work with HA dogs please let me know, the only way I could get my stepdad to agree was to promise to find a no kill rescue or shelter. They live in Northern Delaware, but I am willing to travel with him within a reasonable distance. I live outside of Baltimore, so NJ-Va would be fine, as well as Eastern Pa.

Maybe im oversteping my shoes but is it aggression to all females or just your mom?IF it's all females and it's that bad a rescue may not be willing to give her fair chance.Might label her "ha" and that be end.I'd be sure the rescue will get her help by a "pro" before deciding she was HA.
