SALISBURY, Md.- A puppy is lucky to be alive.

Wicomico Humane Society Executive Director Linda Lugo said someone put two 8-week-old pitbull puppies inside a garbage bag, tied the bag in a knot and left it on Walston Switch Road near Route 50 in Salisbury.

The bag was discovered by a driver who noticed something moving inside.

Lugo said one puppy died but the other survived. That puppy is now named Trinket. Lugo said Trinket was cold and dehydrated when she was found Sunday.

But Trinket has since made a full recovery and could be up for adoption as early as Friday.

Lugo said it may be impossible to ever find the person responsible.

"It was intentional, it was heartless, it was gutless and cruel. A complete and utter act of cruelty," Lugo said.

The Humane Society reminds people that it takes in all unwanted animals.
