yes he did but i was the only one he beat. there where 12 other dogs. besides i trained her to pull and i know what she can do, just didnt think she would pull that good for him, if i knew all my dogs would pull for my kids i would let kids pull dogs instead of me if i knew it would be successful.;)

first of all i didnt get my ______ handed to me. a few % when i had to make up 9 lbs, but i give it you, your dog had to earn it, you know i made him work, there was no other dogs as close. not worried about switch need to be worried about the dog my son pulls

Couple days away and getting anxious, suppose to be close to 60 dogs if not more and some of the top dogs in the country. i know there will be several breeds there that are bigger hope none of those patterdales come out.j/k i like watching those lil dogs pull.

60? and i was here thinking of using the APA as a easy one to practice for the adba in March, guess not. Czars first pull, and hes going to be against some of the best dogs yay and oh crap at the same time.

it is nothing to worry about, honestly my dogs dont have a chance, but i like to pull with the other dogs and see where mine are. you can see other dogs pull and good friendly people, i honestly have learned some of my training from these guys, i just dont train as serious and hard as they do, this is their life, i do for fun, now when my kids are all grown and gone i might make it my life, but with kids playing sports to hard for me to devote that much time to my dogs. hope im not scaring you away. you will have fun and like i said meet a lot of good people. i will give you an example though, if you was at the ADBA show in October you seen Jed owned by Rob Herndon, he took second in his class at the APA Nationals. but again it is fun and any pull you can get your dog in hard or not is good for your dog.

i know what you mean just took in my whole yard last week. 22 dogs. was not cheap.

they are having another APA pull not KOR in Knoxville next weekend, Holley is hosting it, i hope to make it at least one day, that not to far from you is it.

Leon, i am not bashing any organizations as i pull in all of them. but as far as competition and championing a dog, depends on who shows up and only places that will change are 2 & 3 is listed as follows
1: APA
2: ADBA
3: NKC
4: UKC

At this point i am not here to win, but to have fun and meet people, i don't think Czar is at a stage where i shouldn't push him, i want him to enjoy and get experience pulling in front of a crowd. Its true that, you can research all you want on the Internet, but nothing beat coming out to shows and talking to people. I am still learning, Czar is still learning, so this will be a good experience for both of us. I guess more the dogs means more the people to talk to and learn from. No matter how many dogs, i dont plan on backing out, even though i am nervous, i need to come and pull to see where Czar is at. I have taught him everything i can at home, but now he has to pull for real, so i know what i need to work on.

man you missed a good pull today. there was 60-70 dogs there and of course two of mine had to be in the biggest and hardest class. they faired better then i thought there was 14 dogs in the 41-50 lb class. one of my dogs finished 5th in class but cant complain the other dogs where better then mine and i knew going in they are some of the top dogs in APA or nation for that matter. only one dog really blew me away and he is a freak anyways (JED) but others was closer then i thought. i took three dogs and one of them placed 3rd out of 8 in his class another hard class with two of the best dogs in the nation. overall i am happy, my dogs are better then i thought just need to work harder. and maybe i just ran into far better dogs today.

It was a great pull, amazing dogs. This was Czars first pull, and i made a huge mistake. I was initially thinking of pulling him in Novice this is his first pull, then i figured what is the difference its all for experience, and i decided to pull him in his weight class, big mistake. They did each weight class individually, so the next weight class up has to start with a much heavier weight than the previous, so by the time Czars class came up, the weight on the cart was ~2800 lbs. He tried, he never gave up on it, which i am happy about, but he just did not know how to handle the weight, instead of pushing through or digging, he would back into the cart. I fouled him and once he got help getting it started, he pulled it ok.

After the pull, James helped me train on and off track, and the trip would have been worth it just for that, because i learned a LOT. I know what i need to work on and how to to do it. This coming week i might go to the Knoxville APA pull and pull in the novice for some practice.
