i need sugestions on rules since this is your site id like to emplament your rules.
What kinda stuff do you not want to see here bearing in mind this is a laid back place (not to stuck up)
I am going to try to be as detailed as possible, so it will be clear to the members and make it easy for the moderation staff.
I have collected a bunch of forum rules from various forums i visit and modified them to fit this site. I think it should work well.
I added the no illegal content to safe guard the site from any legal action related to what is posted here.
I added the no obscene content to keep the site family friendly, and the fact that many people browse from work, many things are clearly inappropriate for the work place.
Forum Rules
Posts that promote violation of the law are not allowed.
Violation of the law includes, but is not limited to:
Encouraging or advocating an illegal activity, or portraying it as normal or acceptable(e.g., casually mentioning that you have participated in dog fighting as though this were normal and acceptable). Exceptions will be made for threads that are devoted to serious discussion of illegal activities in an abstract sense (e.g., about whether dog fighting law should be relaxed or legalized), on a case-by-case basis.
Asking for someone else to commit an illegal activity (e.g., asking about dog fighting events or asking for illegal dog fighting videos and pictures).
Assisting someone else in an illegal activity.(e.g., Linking them to videos and pictures of dog fights).
Possessing, distributing, or using drugs in a way that would be illegal in most jurisdictions (e.g., owning marijuana).
Continual harassing behavior directed towards a certain individual or group with the intent of creating an intimidating, offensive, or hostile environment on the boards, with or without use of explicit or implicit threats is prohibited. Posting private information without permission is also prohibited.
Falsely claiming to be another specific message board member or other known individual is not allowed. Neither is falsely claiming to be a moderator, administrator, or any authority figure.
Users whose right to post on the forums has been suspended or revoked must not create additional accounts to evade the ban. In addition to the normal penalties for warnings, the user's ban may be extended, and the additional account they made will be banned indefinitely.
Insulting Others
Posts clearly insulting other board members, individually or as a group, directly or indirectly, are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:
Name-calling ("You're an idiot", "You moron")
Direct insults ("Screw you")
Offensive orders ("Go kill yourself")
Using threatening, harassing, defamatory, hate-speech, or libelous language
Using race, religion, sexual orientation, culture, ethnicity, handicap, nationality, or gender as a means of insult, either directly or implied
Insinuations ("Are you stupid or something?") or insults towards family ("Your mom...")
Instead, members should criticize the post, not the poster. Ex: if you disagree with someones training methods, criticize their methods and not the person.
Obscene content is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:
Providing images or videos of nudity. Nudity includes:
Any figure whose genitals, pubic hair, buttocks, or (if female) nipples or areolas are exposed, partially or totally; or are not exposed, but it's clear that this is only because of the angle of the shot or incidental intervening objects (e.g., hands, hair, bits of cloth).
Visible outlines of female nipples or female genitals through clothing (e.g., "camel toes").
Anything that falls narrowly outside the previous provisions, at the discretion of the moderators.
This applies to photographs, drawings, or any other representation of humanoid figures. It may also apply to non-humanoid figures such as animals, at the discretion of the moderators. Nudity may be permitted for serious and non-titillating purposes, such as the exhibition of recognized art or historical models in modifications, at the discretion of the moderators.
Providing image, video, or audio files that represent or hint at sexual intercourse, foreplay, masturbation, etc.
Verbally describing genitals, sex acts, masturbation, or similarly inappropriate content. This does not include passing references, but includes descriptions that are graphic or include any details.
Providing images, videos, or verbal descriptions of an unreasonably disgusting nature. This includes, but is not limited to: excrement, real-world violence, and extreme virtual or imagined violence.
Links may not be posted for the purpose of providing obscene content. If a website incidentally includes some reasonably obscene content, it's acceptable to link to it for some other purpose as long as a clear warning is given. Similarly, if content incidentally includes some reasonably obscene content, it's acceptable to include it in a post for some other purpose, as long as a clear warning is given.
Posts that disrupt the message boards for other users, intentional or not, are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited, to:
Conducting conversations in foreign languages, outside designated forums
Posting excessively in capital letters, leet speak, or other hard-to-read writing styles

I know, but the Internet is filled with many not so bright people lol, and being as specific as possible should clear any confusion. Also it makes it harder for people to work around the system, and easier for mods to moderate without having to rely too much on their judgment.

Nice i dont even see a need to alter it. You need to be staff bro lol. Now just let me figure out the best way to add them to the site.

Thanks, the one thing i didn't like about the gpb rules where they were too open for interpretation causing confusion for mods and members. I think this should allow for mods to be more fair and decisive at the same time. Avoid drama of accusations against the mods and forum staff.

i felt the same way about the rules there.
One thing i did not add is, advertisements(promoting other websites, products, breeders..etc). What is your stance on that inf?

Well for the time being im not intrested in breeders trying to sell dogs here.
1. I did not make this site for it. Let them do the work and put out the money for there own site and trafic but not on my dime.
2. To many orphans out there that need homes. I will promote them.
As for the advertising i dont mind unless it gets to the point its considerd spam. Like over whelming. If for say like christy wants to sell one of her collars and makes a thread about it. I dont mind at all. Now lets say she replies to every topic mentioning she sells callors then that will be considerd spam. (just useing you as an example cristy i know you wouldent spam)
If you have a pull harnes that your dog out grew and wanna sell it thats fine. But the site will not be held responcable for any transaction that happens here.
Other ppls sites i dont mind unless it gets to the point of spam ether... Me myself have to much pride to post my links every were and would expect the same out of other ppl for here. I have only made a couple refrences to this site on other sites but have never advertised. Even when i got the ok to. The exeption is the chat room but lets face it thats my site to. So im not advertising on any one elses stuff.

wait to see what kind of rules youll need. it depends on the flow of the members. theres 1 mod and 1 admin here so keep it simple so your members dont go off and suggest rules that you cant enforce without banning. its easy to sit back as a member and witness things in the forum but Ill say that the forum is about 1/3 of what really happens on a website. it drives me nuts to see members "guess" whats really going on and think they know better.
1. have fun
2.post often
3. dont be a dick

How about advertising a kennel but not selling puppies(atleast directly). For example, putting a link to their kennel in their signature? or the folks who use their kennel name as their user name?

That makes sense.
Let me make a suggestion.
In the Honda civic forum, people buy, sell and trade from each other all the time. So they just created a sub forum for just that. Lets call it the marketplace.
So if someone has a small business, sell old equipment, or trade, they are allowed to advertise ONLY in that forum. The only other advertisement they can have is a link to their thread on the marketplace forum or their direct website on their signature, and they will be allowed to mention (Not Spam) to people to check out their thread in the marketplace sub forum.
I think down the road when this site gets large this could workout well by getting the site some sponsorships, and you could charge vendors to advertise on the marketplace.
So in essence, advertisement is allowed, but under set conditions. So what does everyone think about this? If this is good inf, i can write up a new rules and requirements for advertisement.

links to working kennels like old forts is really important to show the public the positives and how a resposible breeding program is what makes the difference.

So what if someone posts a link to their site (even in their sig) that "we" don't agree with. Some BYB or puppy mill will eventually show up in a link.
I updated a few things. Added two rules, and a punishment system. This should standardize moderation and avoid confusion.

Advertisements
Advertisement is allowed under strict rules, guidelines and exceptions. They are as follows:
Advertising and selling dogs is strictly prohibited. You are allowed to advertise your kennel in your signature or username if first approved by the mypitbullpro staff. Exceptions will be made for shelter adoptions and foster.
Unsolicited advertisement for any website, product, service, or facility not first approved by mypitbullpro staff is not allowed. If approved, you can advertise websites, products, etc. in your signature, avatar, or other profile fields, as long as you post productively and don't just try to get exposure for your advertisements. Recommendation of websites, products, or other resources are also allowed if relevant to legitimate discussions.

Just reading thru these rules... Does a myspace link count as advertising?
Not really. Your not promoting anything with that link, its just your personal stuff.
