It is with great sadness, I must tell you that I lost my beautiful old lady, my mama Purple, as she was so fondly called.
In March, she had an emergency spleenectomy, and with that came the knowledge that she had only three months to a year to live. Just a few months later, she had a few mast cell tumors removed, nothing major.
This weekend, she was diagnosed with a massive tumor on her liver, that had started to bleed out. I was presented with two options, surgery or euthansia. Purple's answer was in her eyes, the light in her eyes had gone out, I knew it was her time, and felt it was the kindest option for her.
She left so peacefully, and with her, she took a piece of my heart.
Dogs come and go in our lives, I've been lucky to have two so far, Pete and Purple.
So Purple, this is for you!
Thank you for keeping the woodchucks out of the back yard, your hunting skills were always above par!

You always had time to soak up the sun!

You would even get a little play time in when Hopscotch wasn't hogging all the balls!

Always grumbled about winter....

And summer was your absolute favorite!

You always had something to say, didn't you?

Thank you, Purple, for reminding me every day, that it's the simple pleasures that are the ones to be treasured, you were loved and treasured, and will be forever in my heart.

Run free, Purple, your best bud Pete has been waiting over five years for you!
Much love to both of you, you'll live forever in my heart.
