lmao ok dude......yeah i have a 10 pound chain around my dogs necks all the time....just cuz its a pit doesnt mean u need a heavy chain round ur dogs necks, or r pits supposed to have chains like that cuz theyre vicious and its to prevent them from killin each other

RazorEdge- how many dogs do you own? how are they bred?
With your comments I don't think that you fully grasp the true meaning of "responsible pit bull ownership"

i own one dog, but to be a responsible pit owner doesnt mean u need to put 10+ lb chains around ur dogs necks.......if u dont want ur chain to break im post something up from this other forum that shows u better alternatives to chains if u dont want them breaking, more durable and lighter............
A 5\16" chain is too large for any dog and causes unnecessary strain. If you have a problem with your dogs breaking their chain, increase the grade of the chain, not the size of it.
A grade 30, 5\16" chain has a working load limit of 1,900lbs and weighs 0.924lbs per foot. A ten foot chain would weigh 9.24lbs.
A grade 43, 1\4" chain has a working load limit of 2,600lbs and weighs 0.65lbs per foot. A ten foot chain would weigh 6.5lbs.
A grade 70, 1\4" chain has a working load limit of 3,150lbs and weighs 0.67lbs per foot. A ten foot chain would weigh 6.7lbs.
A grade 80, 9\32" chain has a working load limit of 3,500lbs and weighs 0.72lbs per foot. A ten foot chain would weigh 7.2lbs.
A grade 100, 9\32" chain has a working load limit of 4,300lbs and weighs 0.72lbs per foot. A ten foot chain would weigh 7.2lbs.
The higher the grade, the stronger and more durable the material is. If you buy the chain at a hardware store, it will be marked by grade.
A grade 30 chain is silver in color, grade 43 is a little darker and looks to sparkle, grade 70 is originally a gold color, but after wear, it turns the same color as grade 43, both grade 80 and grade 100 chains are black in color.
Depending on the manufacturer, some may be stamped with 3, 30 or 300 for grade 30, 4, 43 or 430 for grade 43, 7, 70 or 700 for grade 70, 8, 80 or 800 for grade 80, 10, 100 or 1000 for grade 100; though many manufacturers do not.
Grade 30 (Proof Coil Chain): General purpose, low carbon steel chain. Used in a wide range of applications. Not to be used in overhead lifting.
Grade 43 (High Test Chain): A high carbon steel chain widely used in industry, construction, agricultural and lumbering operations. Not to be used in overhead lifting.
Grade 70 (Transport Chain): A high quality, high strength carbon steel chain used for load securement. Not to be used in overhead lifting.
Grade 80 (Alloy Chain): Premium quality, high strength alloy chain, heat treated, used in a variety of sling and tie down applications. For overhead lifting applications, only Alloy Chain should be used.
Grade 100 (Alloy Chain): Premium quality, highest strength alloy chain, heat treated, used in a variety of sling and tie down applications. For overhead lifting applications, only Alloy Chain should be used.
so if u want to be responsible and not weigh ur dog down with heavy chains there u go.........

Razoredge and the bloodline he run are two TOTALLY different dogs.BTW read the above post and remember that his dogs ARE pulldogs. Thanks for using your ability to GOOGLE chain information. That might help someone retraining one dog but most of the time logging chians or cables are used for pits.Im sure that if your interested Nate will let you replace all the dogs chains and as they break/fail to restrain the dog you can break the fight AND pay for the vet care for not properly restraining.WHERE did you get the view that the dogs are chained "ALL" day? EVERY NIGHT I speak to nate or laura and they are rotating/crating/kenneling dogs. Some kennels LEAVE the dogs that way 24/7 not this one.

FYI i didnt google chain info i got it from another site......i never said the dogs were chained the whole day.......so to properly restrain a dog u need to add a heavy chain around its neck so he wont break it??? so a chain that has 3200 lbs of load limit, the dogs that he has can break them?.....they can probably pull that weight but break a chain? IDK, i was just offerin other alternatives that are lighter and are more durable......on some of the pics the dogs look slouched over cuz of the chain...JMO maybe im wrong, but just cuz some1 posts pics im supposed to have a positive response???? and when i have a negative everyone attacks like WTF r u sayin that for......i know theyre not my dogs i was just concerned......if u want me to rephrase everything here it goes.........
great lookin dogs man keep up the good work...........

That line right there about ALL THE TIME where i got my info about tieing 24/7 none the less I like your last answer of GREAT DOGS..use that more.=0P
ok lets get one thing out the way the big yes one big chain is deago's he is breed trained and proven to hunt and kill wild hog's
and the thing that lil chart dont take in is chain are just as strong as the hard ware
if i gota keep him on a big chain to keep the rest of my dog's safe thats what i am gone to do i know my dog's
your on the outside looking in and poping of about dog's and owners you are clueless about
last thing i need is a dead dog or a litter of pups that i have to home there are byb for bad dog's

That is a great point Nate, the hardware for connecting the chain(s) has to be strong enough, it isn't usually the chain that breaks but the swivels, the quick connects or the bull snaps. The problem is if you get those pieces strong enough they are too large to fit on the small links of a lighter chain.
Stephanie
i love you steph your almost as good as laura making point more clear thank you

I appriciate your concern and only one chain on the yard is actually a logging chain and thats deigo's. The rest are the lightest grade I could get to fit the best swivels and other hardware I could get and if you look most of those chains are connected to something above the dog. They are runner set ups. I have some strong dogs and believe it or not even with the chains and hardware I have I still have one get loose every couple of weeks lucky for me its been the calmer dogs that just want to come chill in the house lol. Deigo and Houdini are my main concerns on the yard. If ever loose they will go for which ever dog they see first. Deigo has a logging chain because he has been known to bend and twist anything to get his way. He has broke a security light pole even with the ground and he is not one of my pull dogs. After going threw several chains, swivels, clips, poles, and yes even tearing apart a runner system I have found that chain is the only thing that slows him down and really it doesnt he still pulls it around like it was nothing and still tries to break it and what its attached to. The great thing about him is he is starting to get old and not up for the challenge like he use to be. Houdini has pulled a steel pole that was drove in the ground 6 foot loose. I understand your concern and do realize that I take the best measures that I see fit for my dogs and always with their health and well being in mind first.

thanks bro for the good explanation, no attitude or nothing, u got my respect.........the reason i asked about the chain is cuz i know heavy chains put alot of strain on the dogs neck cuz the weight is not evenly distributed....but u do what u have to do to take precautions, so nothing wrong happens, i understand that.........so lets just leave it at that......btw u got sum nice dogs in the yard....:)
