Ok so today in 1 single day. Brian has got bumps on his back. Like around 10 of them. They are not huge. But they do make the fur stick up where they are. There not festering or oozing looking. And they don't seem like a pimple that would pop if squeezed.
So far he has had 1 dose of Benadryl. And 1 dose of Clavamox. If they don't seem better by in the morning he is going into the vet.
This kinda shit all ways happens at the worst of times. When your broke as hell. Damn the luck.

He didnt lay on an ant hill did he?
Hope he gets better, i don't think its a biggie, probably a skin reaction to something he came in contact with.
Czar always has random bumps on his skin, damn blue dogs lol, very sensitive skin. Just took Dan's suggestion and ordered some sea meal powder, hope it helps.

You know he did have what appears to be ant bites on his nuts. But they cleared up pretty well. Things are allways biting his nuts.

Well I wouldn't go to the vet JUST yet... Skin allergies are usually not to urgent unlesss the dog is chewing it's dew claws raw, scratching til bleeding, etc.... Skin takes 2-3 weeks to replenish. So the bumps even though "cured" may not go down for awhile. Common skin bumps are insects flies, Mosquitos, fleas(which can cause allergies and break outs). Is there more dandruff than usual?

i wouldn't run to the vet for the "marks" unless they were busting open or he was in pain.

I would wait it out and apply topical ointments as well. Are they hot or inflamed?

yeah I gave him benadryl already at about 6pm I was told to give it to him again at 12am and then to see what it looks like in the morning and go from there. I dont believe they are , he wont sit still long enough for me to get a good look at them. But you can see that where the fur is sticking up there is one there and you can also feel them when you pet him of course.

Its allergies.... Most likely.... Maybe flea allergy. Don't let him over scratch he will get a skin infection. If he smells "funny" even after a bath it's a skin infection for sure. Keep up with the benadryl if it was a bacterial infection the clavamox should clear it up within 36 hours. Wut are you dosing him on the clavo?
You put cheese in brians but?!?! OMG!!!

Put a bit of tea tree oil in your bottle of shampoo n that'll cover your oitnments

I use Hydrocortisone cream topically, if the dog won't lick it. Tea tree oil is great but I'm allergic to it so I didn't even think to mention it.
I use Sulfodene if it gets bad, to cut down on bacteria.

we have the hydro cream in a first aid kit.
the clavo I gave him one eye dropper full I cant find dosage directions on the box. The eye droper came with the clavo

Hmmm I can't help my clavo is powder.... Tea tree oil is a good safe ointment if it's bacteria it'll kill it if it's itchy it'll sooth it. The sulphur dip is a good all around treatment but not my thing. Stick with the benadryl and tea tree. I'd only use your antibiotics if your sure it's bacterial

Well don't use it unless you know it's bacterial.... Smell, excessive dandruff, oozy bumps, scabby bumps, small white heads. Get down n check them bumps out with a bright light. I got this sweet microscope left over from my days excercising my green thumb ;) but it's not necessary. Get down, slowly brush hair with hands in opposite direction of grain, look at a couple bumps.

I looked at them and you cant see a difference in the skin. It's the same color just seems like there is something the size of a pea under the skin. That may change because like I said they just appeared today.

They are only located on the back and the back legs? Did you check the belly?
infinity
10-27-2009, 12:15 AM
belly and head are clean only on back, and one on back foot but the one on his back foot has been there for a while and seems different. Its right on the bone. Like if you make a fist it would be on the joint that sticks out from your thumb.

Well :DeadHorse: I think it's allergies.... If it is it won't stop til you get it off him so bath him asap and apply some tea tree oil. Available at some drug stores women use it on nails. Be sure it's 100% tea tree (melaluca). A regular bath should do though nice n cool so it soothes.

Thanks for the advise everyone. I have checked him out this morning and the bumps seem to be better, however they are still there. But the ones that seemed really big have gone down in size. I am going to give him another dose of benadryl and see what it looks like when I come home this afternoon.

His bumps are allmost all the way gone now. How weird I get a freakin bump on my forhead and its there for 3 weeks.
Any way thanks for every ones help. You saved me from rushing off to the vet. and helped brian feel better.
One last question how much longer should I give the benadryl?

Benadryl is harmless Infiniti, you can feed it to him as long as you feel it's necessary. A week? 2weeks? Not at all... I'd go a day or two after bumps dissapear.

thanks man! I actually gave your real rep for that one lol. +50 points
