Kori Martin is a life long, die-hard Eagles fan. She is also an animal lover; therein lays her conundrum. While gravely disappointed at the signing of Michael Vick by the Philadelphia Eagles, Martin still supports her home team but her experience while attending a home game at Lincoln Field yesterday has her absolutely flabbergasted!
While entering the arena to go to her family's season ticket holder seats a security guard told her she could not enter the arena wearing the shirt she purchased from pitbullgear.com (http://www.pitbullgear.com/Default.asp?Redirected=Y) because the anti-Vick message would be offensive to players and other people.
The front of the shirt states "Losers Fight Pit Bulls" with the name Vick and his number 7 crossed out. The back is a bit more creative with a listing of the specific crimes he committed against the dogs with the phrase "We Will Never Forget" on top and the opinion "You Don't Deserve a 2nd Chance" below, all superimposed on a football field 50 yard line design.
The crimes listed include:
Purchased pit bulls for dog fighting
Trained & bred pit bulls for dog fighting
Provided funding for dog fighting competitions
Used innocent family dogs as "bait" dogs
Electrocuted, hung, drowned and shot dogs to death
Fought dogs to the death
Offensive to players and other people? Too bad! There is no profanity or vulgarity on the shirt. There is nothing libelous as everything listed is true! Is Philadelphia no longer part of the United States of America? Since when does Jeffrey Lurie or any member of the Philadelphia Eagles management team have the right to tell someone they cannot wear a shirt to a game because they don't like what it says? I don't know what to do or who to contact, but I want to make the public aware of how the Eagles management is handling this Vick situation. I am outraged that they would treat their own loyal fans this way. I have stuck by my team through thick and thin, and what happened to me yesterday was a disgrace. The fan base has a right to their opinion, especially on a social issue and as long as the fans are within decency boundaries, they should not be told what they are allowed to wear, say or feel. Not only has Jeffrey Lurie and the Eagles organization supported
a dog murderer by signing this convict, now they want to take away my freedom of speech just because I don't agree with them?

Jeffrey Lurie, you owe Kori Martin a big apology. Readers, if you agree, why not let the Philadelphia Eagles management know how you feel? Email them your thoughts about this incident here. (http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/fanzone/contactus.asp)
