The Tacoma Line was developed through the breeding activities of Charles Doyle of Winamac Indiana. The great dog, Tacoma Jack, was whelped in 1927. He was owned by Al Brown. Using Tacoma Jack and Brown’s Judy, Mr. Brown produced a number of outstanding dogs. Several of these, including Tacoma Jack’s Replica, were sent to Charles Doyle. Using Tacoma Jack’s Replica and other Tacoma dogs, and with liberal infusions of Corvino blood through such great dogs as Corvino’s Braddock and Corvinos’s Shorty, Mr. Doyle produced a long line of courage and sound dogs. Some of the best included Ch. Young Joe Braddock, Ch. Doyle’s Tacoma Disaster I, Ch. Doyle’s Tacoma Disaster II, Ch. Kane Tacoma Blaze, and Ch. Tacoma All-A-Blaze. Ch. Tacoma Frivolous Sal, owned by Howard and Janice Hadley, won the National Specialty in 1954. Subsequently Tacoma crosses have been important in all other major AST lines.

Mr. Doyle, who was active in the National Club both as a board member and long-time Secretary, strongly believed in keeping the Staff as Game and Functional as possible. Of all the AST lines, the Tacoma dogs have easily the most outstanding record for courage and capability.

Al Brown's Tacoma Jack was registered with the ADBA, UKC, as a Pit and the AKC as a Staff.

California baby!!! Elvis you f'n rock!! Tacoma is one of my favorite bloodlines of all time. It is said these dogs were of the highest quality, that if you were a ax man in the pacific northwest and you didn't own THE Tacoma bull dog you weren't much of an ax man. Thanks for the run down! This is a huge deal because of the gameness and the fire these "amstaffs" posessed. Makes you think twice about amstaffs in general.

May I also add Tacoma was used widely as an outcross to add some working ability into a line. The Tacomas DA made it hard to keep it in it's pure form as amstaffs are notoriously less DA then the APBT. It wasn't used much in APBT blood because it was considered amstaff blood. This bloodline was no joke and of very high quality as far as confirmation and working ability go.

The Tacoma Line was the only old type of Staffordshire Terriers ever allowed to be advertized in the ADBA AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER GAZETTE and it only happened once.

What Month, Year, Volume and Issue was it in and who placed the add (their name... first and last)?

The first one to post the right answer will win something special. (Hint, hint Dan, LOL)

Good luck everyone!

I know this isnt right..but this is the closest thing that I have found so far lol

In Richard Pascoe’s book, "The American Staffordshire Terrier" he mentions that there are five major lines in the foundation of the American Staffordshire Terrier. Tacoma, X-pert, Ruffian, Crusader, and "California" which is not actually a line, but a combination of lines. The Tacoma was developed by Charles Doyle and Al Brown beginning with the whelping of Tacoma Jack in 1927. The Tacoma line is influenced by Corvino blood early in its history. The Tacoma line is known for its courage and working ability

I will keep reading............................

the Ryan amstaff bloodline originated from the Tacoma bloodline in which they were highly DA and some proved to be Game. this bloodline originated in the AKC and was not liked very much because of the their aggressiveness and DA in the show ring so they were almost banned from competition and most were asked never to come back. the Ryan bloodline started with Ryan's Tacoma Katey

this bloodline is a AKC bloodline and probably the only one to specifically breed for gameness and lots of drive. all of the tacoma dogs go back to GRCH Corvino's Braddock which was a 14Xw

here is a site that has some history on the tacoma bloodline which has more info and some nice old pics lilbull amstaff Tacoma / corvino page (http://lil.amstaff.free.fr/tacoma.htm)
i have spoken to a few people that have these Ryan amstaff line within the first 4 generations and they all said the same thing ,simply a amstaff with lots of drive that can compare to a ADBA gamedog in attitude.
the tacoma line and those that work with the Ryan dogs are still keeping this line pure and breeding for Drive and Gameness to keep true to the founders of the line.
