At what ages did or do you all switch from puppy to adult food? My dog is allmost 6 months old. And i hear every thing from 9 moths to 1 year.

I started mixing in adult food at 6 months. Feed them the mix for about a month or so and then wean out the puppy food. My 'adult' food is an all stages food also, but I just felt it had a little too much protien for a young puppy.

uh.. well i am keeping kenya on puppy food until she is 18months of age. My intstructers said to do this becuz she is working and so active. BUT i have always ehard to switch at 1yr unless your bitch is spayed. the reason for that is, spayed females metabolisms slow down dramatically after surgery. but im not sure about males

anyway, id keep him on it until he is a year :)

I don't believe in Puppy Food and feel it's a marketing scam. Thankfully everyone I've gotten a dog from has transitioned from mom to solid food has feed high quality adult food. If you got your pup from a breeder that was using puppy food you transition them the same way you would an adult dog from one feed to another. 25% new food the first two to three days 50% new and old for the next 2 to 3 days and 75% new for the next 2 to 3 day until you finally get to 100% . The percentages are a guideline if your dog is doing well on the new food the number of days in-between can be decreased.

I feed adult food and so does the kennel I work with. They feed their pregnant bitches puppy food, though.

yeah Peanut has been on adult food since he was 4 months old. I feel the same way on this. If you compare the ingredients and guranteed analysis on puppy to adult food its not too much of a difference...
