did he get poked by the spikes? that looks way horrible. he only wore it for a day and it looks like that?

i would leave the collar off until he heals and then maybe try a nylon collar with out spikes?

no the spikes are not in any way touching him and they are rounded even lined where the metal not touching him only thing on him is leather..thats why i pushing toward allergic....It WILL NOT be going back on him.I plan to get him a nylon collar as soon as that heals.

dang that sucks...the only thing i could think of is a poke of the spike but dang. i did a google search and says that dogs can be allergic to a variety of things just like people so it is possible.
the other thing i was thinking is was it like a heavy rough leather? maybe it was just rough and since the fur is very short on their necks maybe it just was rubbing him raw?

I order a collar awhile back and the edges were so rough I won't let the dog where it. That part of his kneck would get cut I'm pretty sure. THEN I order anice Stillwater leather and I'll be damned if they don't fit and look bad on my pups to boot. I'm going down to the local horse tack shop n see if I can't get them to make me some nice soft leathers for the doggies.

that was made for him by a guy at our local flea market and he does AMAZING WORK its totally smooth and lined and super nice for a $25.00 collar.I plan to see if he can make a nylon one.

That sucks hun. I would just go to petsmart or something and get a good nylon one. It looks like he got gouged by something though. Maybe something they used to treat the leather? who knows.

You didn't notice him scratching at it or anything? Looks painful, I hope it clears up poor wee doggy.
