tail busted open?

Well every weekend i take (ku)moe to get him some "cookies" at petsmart.It helps let the kids love on him and see all pits are not " mean" and GREAT way to torment stupid people who are terrified over him.Well him and the nutro lady are close friends and she knows I don't like nutro products since they have had 2 recalls and now have a kitty recall.I don't trust them.So she has a few blue buffelo cookies just for him(there is always a nutro and blue buffelo sales person on weekends).None the less she talked to him and loved him like always and noticed that he had blood on floor.It was his tail.I assume he hit it on rack.It was bleeding pretty good.I dip it in the quik stuff for wounds to close wound but now EVERY time he gets happy butt I get blood bath.ANY ADVICE?

a few people here have experience with "happy tail" they will be able to give you advice when they pop in :) Peanut has a bald spot on the tip of his from happy tail but so far no blood so i just stop him from wagging his too hard on objects.

I would suggest getting it sutured or stapled if necessary. If it's healed on it's own I might wrap it in gauze then wrap it in adhesive bandage.

not that bad and they wont staple or stitch a tail because of the curve dome so I was told..

If you do gauze n wrap I reccomend a E Collar so they don't chew it off. Keep us updated on kumhos status.

Yeah sorry I am unable to help in that situtation. I know Brain gets happy ass too and we do what we can to keep him away from things when his ass starts shaking all over the place.lol. Keep us updated on how things go though I would love to know what the outcome is. Hope all gets well soon:)

tail better...clip hair soaked in warm water and sealed with dermabond..now he got me bleeding..he just bit me playing..OMG it burns.

if it bust back open i recommend superglue and wrap it for a couple of days then when it starts to scap keep vasoline on it so it doesnt get dried out and crack back open

i got it wrapped and he dont seem to even care so im avoiding placing the satlite dish on his head yet..lol and thanks for the help.I didnt think about vasoline to keep it from cracking.Any idea how to keep bug/flies off his tail?

its all better now he got a hole in his neck..UGH..........id miss his tail i get hit with it like 100's of times a day..lol

Bomber had his cut off. He split the end so bad his bone was starting to peek out. It was a bad infection waiting to happen so now he has a stubby tail poor guy :(

Just keep an eye on it, if he keeps doing it wrap that sucker up. You can even buy the foam pipe fittings and put it around his tail with about two inches hanging off the end and then wrap it up with an ace bandage. Darn these happy dogs! hehe
